As a guy, I ran a 50.1 400M in High School, and was really fast- no state title, but.... 400 HURDLES in 50.27?? Nuts! She is on a new level of greatness.

What I notice when I watch her run is how smooth she is, while everyone else is chasing here they're are grimacing and straining and she just looks like she's gliding

Dude 47.71 on the 2nd leg is wild. Imagine her anchor leg abilities!! On the right day with the right build up I really do think she could get close to 47 flat

She should go to the flat 400m and train to beat that WR

The mentality she possesses of never holding back, not celebrating before crossing the finish line, always giving her all. We would have many more records if other athletes followed her example.

I simultaneously hope she can break 50s on hurdles, but also to see what her capabilities would be at 200/400. My guess is she focuses on hurdles for '25 and then uses the "skip" year to switch to dominate 400 or 200 in '27 worlds.

Sydney won that relay for America in the first 100m bend, there was maybe a meter at most between them at the baton change but by the back straight she was 25m+ ahead i was gobsmacked at how quickly she made so much distance, as long as she stays fit and still has that drive to outdo herself we can only expect the 400mh times to get quicker and go sub 50s, if she does ever decide to retry the 400m flat it wont be a question of if she can break that world record only a question of when

She is the Queen of track and field, a Class act, already a Legend. May God bless her. ❤️

First and foremost she is a freak of nature. I ran that event in high school and college. As an NCAA student athlete. I actually ran 4x400 relay legs against her father Willie. When he completed for Manhattan College in New York. He was a stand out 400 meter runner himself. So I know exactly where she gets her Track speed from. She is what the sport needs. As a track buff this is all good.

The moment one saw her in that 4x4 line up one just knew they would win with consummate ease . Her combination of speed, speed endurance and huddling technique is remarkable, 100 flat 110 hurdles 200 flat 400 flat and 4x4 relay would all be feasible events . Understandably she has prioritised the 400 hurdles when she’s that much superior in it .

When she ran that second leg in that relay and they mentioned the time, no one was making a big deal out of it. I knew that even compared to everyone else's split it had to be one of the best splits ever. I was befuddled no one was talking about her more from that event. She smoked everyone

There is a special grace to the way the great woman runners run. I think it is the economy of motion. I remember FloJo, Allyson Felix and now Syd having running style that is a thing of beauty.

Time doesn't heal the wounds inflicted by those juiced up athletes in the 80s. Nothing would please me more than to see Sydney break the 47.60 mark set by Koch who has never admitted her crime. Seeing super talented athletes who try so damned hard and with all the coaching and supreme efforts they make still unable to break those dirty old records is heart breaking. Go on Syd, do the world a favour and get that record.

The video many of us have been waiting for.

Syd will break 50 in the 400h and then transition to the flat 200 and 400 for LA28 imo.

In Paris, Syd was CLOSER to the men’s 400h champ than she was to the 8th place women in her own race…

5:09; S/O Shamier's 49.48 which is the 4th fastest lead-off leg in W4x4 History; 48.93, 49.03, 49.30 & 49.48. Need Syd & Femke to come battle with the likes of Paulino, Naser & Pryce in the 400m! Zurich DL has confirmed Mondo will race Karsten over 100m on Sept. 4 the day before the main meet which will have Hocker, Kerr, Nuguse & Jakob race the 1500m on Sept. 5 🔥

She was in a different class of runner in Paris. She dominated! And she's so humble and loving with her family!

As usual, you've supplied the best perspective of this athlete's recent accomplishments through your analysis. I was immediately overwhelmed with Sydney's achievements when she won the 400m hurdles besting her own previous WR by .28 seconds and nearing the 49 second realms (sub-50.0)--in to the realms where the men reside--but her massive lead extension in that second leg of the 4x400 relay was even more breath-taking--then to see the time(s) (I've seen it posted at 47.70 as well as 47.71--not sure who gets to decide which one is the "official" result). At the 2022 Worlds the announcer declared that Sydney's performance was "Beamon-esque"--referring to the iconic superhuman result of Bob Beamon's 8.90 meter (29" 2 1/2") jump in the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. I think that Sydney McLaughlin(-Levrone)'s overall life-long portfolio expresses an overall athleticism that is "Beamon-esque."
