My slovak grandmother(RIP) chanted this exact old slavonic chant when she was alive, I never understood it even though I spoke slovak, I though she was just talking gibberish, tears come to my eyes when I remember her, Great video and thanks for the video, you just took me back in time and such a soul touching chant.

Remember us in Your kingdom, Lord,
Vo tsarstviy Tvoyem pomyani nas, Gospodi,

When You come into Your kingdom.
yegda priideshi vo tsarstviy Tvoyem.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blazheni nishchin dukhom, yako tekh yest' tsarstvo nebesnoye.

Blessed are the mourners, for they shall be comforted.
Blazheni plachushchiy, yako tiy uteshatsya.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blazheni krotkiy, yako tiy nasledyat zemlyu.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for truth, for they shall be filled.
Blazheni alchushchii i zhazhdushiy pravdy, yako tiy nasytyatsya.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall be pardoned.
Blazheni milostiviy, yako tiy pomnlovani budut.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blazheni chistiy serdtsem, yako tiy Boga uzryat'.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called Children of God.
Blazheni mirotvortsy, yako tiy Synove Bozhiy narekutsya.

Blessed are the persecuted for the truth, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blazheni izgnani pravdy radi, yako tekh yest' tsarstvo nebesnoye.

Blessed are you when they taunt and persecute you,
Blazheni yeste, yegda ponosyat vam i izhdenut,

and say all kinds of evil words against you for My name,
i rekut vsyak zol' glagol na vylzhushche Mene radi,

rejoice and be glad, your reward is great in heaven.
raduytesya i veselitesya, yako mzda vasha mnoga na nebesekh.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
Slava Ottsu i Synu, i Svyatomu Dukhu,

both now and ever and forever more.
i nyne i prisno i vo veki vekov.

Amen.
Amin'.

The holy fathers of Valaam chant like the holy angels, ever singing praising before the Mighty Throne of God. Tears of gladness and awe run down my face every time I hear this. The Lord protect Valaam and the holy fathers - we need their holy prayers now more than ever. Glory to God for all things.

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the LORD is with Thee. Blessed art Thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, JESUS. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

I'm of Croatian descent, and youtubed ancient languages, and was astounded at how much of this I actually understood. Beautiful to listen to. no words really, musically its as beautiful as the Latinised Gregorian chant.
Thanks for letting me find it

I understand them only very briefly (being Slovak), but this is so beautiful. Orthodox chants (together with church slavonic prayers and greek-catholic liturgy) has something gorgeus and spectacular about them. Thank God for giving us such a beautiful gift.

This is the most beautiful and powerful song I've ever been blessed to hear.

These are the Beatitudes that my late Parents and Brother chanted at home, when I was little. Growing up during the war in Germany, we had to go to the basement every night when allies where bombing. Later in 1945 when the Americans occupied the part of Germany where we were taken to, I would hear the same words but sung as by a Choir in which my family, especially my Mother sang. I will never forget that.
