FLY TYING-PHEASANT TAIL EMERGER-THE DEADLIEST FLIES

preview_player
Показать описание
One of the most frustrating times to fly fish can be moments before a hatch when the fish begin to feed on the emerging nymphs. Still not yet ready to commit to duns the trout feed eagerly on the emerging nymphs as they rise to the surface. This adaptation to the Frank Sawyer pheasant tail nymph keys in on the very vulnerable final stage of the mayfly nymph.

That is another great tie and pattern Chris! I have tied and used a lot of pheasant tail nymphs but never really zeroing in on the emerges stage like that  I need to get busy and start tying and that is one I am going to add to my box.  Best Always!

For the record, there are more than 600 species of mayfly in the United States and 3, 000 worldwide. Of the ~160 different species in Wisconsin, maybe 40 or so produce fishable hatches on trout streams throughout the state... the more you know and thx for the video!

Thanks for sharing, got intro/background, love the materials (including the adding of the flash legs), and SRV’s music!

Question: it has been 6yrs since this post of group of deadliest flies…any flies of choice to be added or removed from your list?

There's a guy called Davie MPhail who does similar videos of fly tying. I would suggest that you watch some of his to learn how to communicate better. Other than that I enjoyed your work.

3 seconds in to the track and I thought...sounds like Stevie Ray. Now I feel like getting my fly tying gear out. And maybe a small whisky. (It's only 3 pm in the afternoon)

Whoa, cool pattern! Does the CDC keep this close to the surface pretty well or do you use a floatant at all? I've been having some luck this year with a grey CDC emergerpatern that I bought somewhere but I want to tie this one!

A much closer view of what’s going on would be a boon.
