LG Tone Plus vs Motorola Buds Earphones

Показать описание
A side-by-side comparison of the LG Tone Plus (model HBS-730) and the Motorola Buds wireless earphones.

Note: As a correction to something I mentioned in the video, on the Motorola Buds to reject an incoming phone call you hold down one of the volume buttons until you hear a tone.

I got a really good deal on the Motorola Buds, but I did not get any instructions with the product. So I think this is a great review, and comparison. It was very helpful and I appreciated it.

Thanks for doing this review. I was set on getting the LG's, but after watching this I think I'll be going for the Motorola's. The earphone wire looks more durable, and I like that there is no 'bend' in the wire when the earphones are stowed on the magnets, one less fatigue point.

I had the LG and use it for when I am out on motorcycle rides. Loved them but had same issue and that is volume would not go up or down all the way, it depends on the volume of the phone setting. Well the last trip I did not have them in my ear but it was on my neck and they blue off while on a highway. I went back to get them but not fast enough, they got run over. So  GroupOn has the Motorola  for 49.99 and I have a coupon for 20% off so thanks to you and this fantastic post I am going with the Motorola. The points I like are a poss tighter fit around the neck, sound, volume, less buttons, thicker wires. Great job, thank you.

There is a blue LED light on the Motorola Buds. It's right next to the power switch. Very small.

I agree with Talis, since the LG Tone+ have been out for a while I can find them online for around $40 which is a big difference.  Also to me not having the Motorola headset vibrate on an incoming call will probably be a deal killer.  As far as sound quality goes as long as it has good sound quality I am happy with it, so a minor improvement is not a big deal.  My LG tone+ have good sound.  However I must say that for anyone coming from a bluetooth device or headset where you just hear in one ear and not in stereo you will find either of these sound remarkably better.  I can see where the Motorola Buds might work better for someone running or jogging where they are bouncing as they appear to have a slightly tighter fit

DISCLAIMER:  I own the LG tone+ and have not tried the Motorola Buds.  I found this video when considering the Motorola Buds and looking for some reviews comparing the two.

Thank You Clint for a great review.

I just got the LG Tone +'s and love them!! Great investment. I am not too pleased with Motorola and their products I have owned in the past. LG is the way to go. Life's Good!

One more thing.. LG tone plus also has a built in equalizer settings.. Hold down volume - + buttons at the same time for 2 seconds and it will change the eq settings.. It has got 3 of such settings..

The lg hbs-730 have built in equalizer also. .hold volume up and down same time and it goes from high bass to high treble to flat. .

The LG's do have a bass boost if you push in the 2 volume buttons wait for a beep you will hear a huge difference. I have a pair that lasted me 3 years the left bud just fell off. I am a contractor and have really put them to the test. If you sweat hard all ear buds fall out. The vibrating for incoming calls is very strong you can keep you phone silent and charging and not miss a call.

I had the older motorola one that did not have the buds, has the same rear part.  I dont care for it as much, it does not pair as easy as my LG one.  Im very happy with the LG, very user friendly and it tells you the battery life you have when you turn it on .

I just bought the motorola buds, and wanted to know your opinion on the Durability, and how they manage to work under a lot of sweat. Great Review

Im planning to get one of those, which one u could recommend for mainly use on a PS Vita? The LG Tone is like 50-50 on reviews, the Motorola ones seems to be way better on bass, no one has complains on the Motorola ones yet. Thanks.

Excellent review even if erroneous on the EQ point (EQ existence on the LG) -- a mistake already admitted to by the publisher. I would however like to offer my .02 on sound quality. I've worked extensively in audio post production, have a sensitive ear and am VERY picky when it comes to sound quality. Both of these sets are very good when compared to other BT models but I disagree that the Motorola Buds sound better; Personally I felt that they sounded just a little bit flat compared to the LG's with a weird frequency response curve up in the 2-10KHz range making them difficult to EQ to satisfaction. I found myself constantly trying to tone down the notorious ear-pearcing frequencies within that range while maintaining overall "brightness". I ended up having to nearly peg one band while flooring an adjacent band and even then I couldn't get the sound quite right. I had no such problems with the LG's which, as I listened to for the first time, nearly brought a tear to my eye after experiencing so much frustration over the sound quality of bluetooth headphones in general. For a casual, on-the-go wireless option I felt as if I had finally arrived.

As for bass, I really didn't notice any less low frequency response with the LG's. It may be that I had to EQ up the LF bands more with the LG's but if so it wasn't by much. The important thing is that they appeared capable of producing bass at least equal to the Motorolas without distorting. I should also note that these comparisons are based on both units in their default (flat) EQ states with all tonal adjustments made on the host device.

I realize that sound quality is a highly subjective thing. The human ear's sensitivity across the audio spectrum varies from one individual to the next, which is why I want to make it clear that this is my OPINION -- the opinion of someone who's primary consideration is sound quality.
