Listening to this song especially the last verse, portrays the life that my wife and I are facing. She's diabetic (Injecting Insulin everyday) and also doing Kidney Dialysis daily (hoping and praying that she will receive a new Kidney from a donor). One of the best songs written I've heard. God willing we will be able to come hear you sing if you ever come close to Virginia Beach, Virginia. Thank you Josh Ritter. Mario and Marlene Bansen

A documentary will surely be made about today's times. This song will be its soundtrack.

As a Mexican, I have tremendous respect for this singer songwriter. Being able to put down in words what is going down here on the border is not easy, especially with all the false plot twists being promoted by the mass media. Sad, that the hummingbirds and butterflies that have been coming and going with the seasons for thousands of years are now mistreated in the tight netting and forced into cages while the women receive forced vasectomies. In the land of migrants, the true locals are immigrants. There are children in cages in the land of the free. - Manuel

These are strange and mournful days, and I pray all the mothers and children are reunited, because your music makes me think of John Prine and Paul Simon, and every other person who cares enough to sing about it.

This song reminds me of "Blowin' In The WInd" in terms of its poignant timeliness and its universal awareness. Love every lyric and feeling that it gives me.

I've been trying to learn this song on the ukulele. Just cannot get through it without choking up. 5 years later and things are looking dark.

I didn't know much about this artist. But I just heard this song on Live From Here and had to go looking for it. It echoes my current feelings perfectly. I wish everyone in this country would listen to this song.
