I highly recommend researching Ai Weiwei. He's been a thorn in China's side for years. Initially, the government treated him like a hero. They had him design one of their 2008 Olympic stadiums, "The Bird's Nest". But when he returned to China in 2008, Sichuan had an earthquake that killed more than 80, 000 people. He started researching what had happened. How did this earthquake cause so much death and destruction? As he began probing, the government started getting very angry. When I was in China, back in 2012, the average Chinese person had no idea who Ai WeiWei was. He's been detained several times for various reasons. In the end he's only one voice but one voice with a lot of influence and that intimidates the CCP.
