The promotion insisted that the black gloves was Jeet Kune Do, but why does the red gloves MMA guy look more like JKD flair? Let's watch and see if you agree with me. 😂 No. That's exactly what JKD is NOT. One of JKD's basic principles is "simple and direct".

Well, MMA is basically the watered down version of JKD with emphasis on boxing/kick boxing/Muay Thai and some catch wrestling and Japanese or Brazilian Jujitsu. If the JKD martial artist had access to all punching/kicking/elbow/knee striking, takedowns, locks, and standing to ground submissions, all illegal moves and techniques, you'd actually see a lot more injuries and deaths in the ring

Mma is basically jkd, bruce lee said it himself dont make his teaching as a "must thing" but you should have a freedom to always adaptating and to be more effective

I've got a good Dan Hardy quote that sums up the problems with JKD today, he responded with this to me in the comments!
"Anybody training JKD today hasn't read, or properly understood the Tao of Jeet Kune Do. The best source of realistic fighting is found in MMA gyms today, Bruce Lee's concepts applied to modern MMA is where it's at, and many of his concepts have been proven true by the filtration process of mixed martial arts."

I wonder if the guy is JKD like my school which also taught Muay Thai (+ others, too many to list) or if it is just the Jun Fan art which is the art Bruce developed to be his contribution to the list of techniques that you take from it what works for you.

Using a few things like "stop hits" and power hand forward should be expected if trying to apply JKD in the ring. As well as the various direct/indirect attack scenarios . I don't think the actual techniques would look much different from what is being done in most MMA fights. Though it's hard to stick to that plan once you get in there and the adrenalin is flowing and some guy is trying to take your head off. Takes lots of experience to relax and slow things down mentally . I've reviewed many a video of my own where I thought I was keeping it together but was really wild and off balance .

i remember when i did TKD, this guy kept doing spinning flying kicks and i'd just push him and he'd fall mid air

after that, he got reprimanded for flying haha
