TUTORIAL: THE BEST PANASONIC DMC FZ2500 FZ2000 SETTINGS FOR A VIDEO WORKFLOW

This video looks at ideal settings for anyone using the Panasonic DMC-FZ2500 or FZ2000 for a video workflow

I have owned the FZ2500 for roughly a full year. I really think that it does a great job at recording video but not as great at photography. Given the fact that I am not the greatest fans of the optics, I thought it quite important to show you how I adjust my settings for the video workflow that I chose to do with this camera.

Here are some points I will mention in the livestream

• On the menu, there are guides that scroll at the top of each choice you make. This is a bonus and might help you make choices for your individual workflow
• Menus change according to the settings you choose for your camera
• I will only be going through the general video setting of this camera for video use
• This camera has a great deal of GH4 like functions my in depth settings are not in this video
• Check the in depth manual on chapter 7 page 157 for in depth.
• Many settings depend a great deal on which video format you record to

Thank you for thaking th etime to create this video. I am a newbie camera person. I have owned the FZ2500 for about a year. I picked it up because of the zoom capabilities and 4k video. I use for it is to video my overlanding adventures(4x4ing) plus being a bridge camera saves me on room. For the last few weeks myself and a couple friends have been hired by a local fire department to record their training videos. It has been an eye opener. I really enjoyed it. I mount the FZ2500 to a shoulder rig and it really helps me to be stable. One question I have for you On my buddies RX10 he can plug in a corded remote and has it mounted by the right hand grip on his shoulder rig. This remote starts and stops the recording plus also runs the zoom feature. I can not seem to locate a corded or cordless remote feature that starts and stops recording or even run the zoom. A remote would be awesome to have mounted at my finger tips on my shoulder rig. Might you have come across anything like this? When I am on my tripod I am able to use the WIFI features and control the camera with my LG V30. Again Thank you for taking the time to cover the FZ2500

I really appreciate your very good tutorial using the fz2500. I will be using it for both video and sill photos. Though I have a background in prosumer video, I have never shot photos. I'd love for you to do the same type of tutorial showing the buttons and setting choices photos on this camera. For me, it's a steep learning curve, but just now knowing that the menu changes with each mode etc., gives me a clue. I hope you'll do a video on using this camera for photos.

Hi I know this video is a bit old and you probably don't even own the camera anymore, I have one and I noticed my slow/quick mode are always disabled no matter what settings I select. I've read the manual and selected a resolution that support VFR, I've done everything but I don't see how can I enable the slow/quick mode. It's always disabled on the menu! Same as yours at the beggining of the video. Have you been able to make those settings enabled?

Mate... I loved this line "don't even think it go out and get this 😂😂😂... That's what I did and now spending my time with your videos to learn about it. Is my first pro-is camera. :-)

Hi! Can this camera record while using the HDMI OUT? I'm asking this because the Panasonic FZ 1000 and FZ 1000 II, when you connect it to a monitor or video mixer (using its HDMI connector), the cammera cannot record on the SD card in the same time. Thanks!

That's a bummer that you no longer have the fz2500. I can't find a good tutorial for the photo side of it. Mine is a few weeks away from having the 1 year warranty expire and I don't even know if the camera is working properly. The buttons and elusive menu settings are such a problem, I can't even test it out properly. I'm wondering if I should sell this is get something else. Do you have any recommendations? I don't have the time or motivation to get into pro level photography. When I later get a new computer and editing system, I'll want a good video camera. While it would have been nice to have a bridge camera that can also do photos, the learning curve is more than I have time for om the photo side. What's a good camera to replace my tape based Sony Z1U HDV cam for video and it would be a nice plus it it also could good photos?

I'm a complete newbie with the FZ-2500 which I ordered from Amazon and arrived yesterday. To demonstrate, in your video you talk about "going into settings" but would you believe I have NO IDEA how to go into settings? And you didn't explain it very well, so I still don't know how to go into settings. I subscribed to your channel, but my confusion remains. I know I'll have it figured out in a little while, but I have to migrate to another video after 10:49 because I need to know how to get to the settings on this camera. What I see on my camera screen is not what I see in your video.

Hello! I don't know if you would read this couple of years later but my issue is with the actual recoding of fast moving objects - jumping horses in my case, changing speed and direction at any moment. I only see buttons adjustments and stories how great the video is and so far shooting a video with a phone is so much better than with this camera! I need an advice: how to adjust the camera so it is not shaky and does not fall out of focus every now and then? I will appreciate your answer.

Hi there. Thanks for You video. I just bought FZ2000 mostly for my kitesurfing and workout videos and vlogs. When You record something that is moving fast like me for example doing kitesurfing, I found out that AF is struggling, so do You have any advice for settings? I found out that the aperture need to be cc 20-22 because then everything is in the focus.

Stupid question but in cine d vs cine v is there a tiny crop. I noticed it when switch from C TO M and switched the pic profile vice versa . Low light facial recognition is slow. I shoot in Creative Movie mode. 4k live cropping is all goods, so is the time lapses, CINE D AND CINE V i like natural is good profile too.
I like using my dummy battery with usb 5v to 2a converter cable on a powerbank to shoot timelapses that are over 500 shots . .

Tips for other users: Dummy battery with powerbank setups, make sure your powerbank is more then 1 a on the output, 2a or 2.4a is better.
After lengthy use on dummy batt/powerbank, a and mah will drop so be careful not to overburden your powerbank too much.
After lengthy testing with various powerbanks with the same similar 2.4a output specs, all seem too appear to run out of of current stable enough to supply camera with power from 7.2 v to 6.4 v etc, so if time lapsing I.E 9S interval for 1000 Images for more then 1200 or more images, be sure POWERBANK IS FULLY CHARGED. Video depending on format and
system frequency and zooming, is roughly about 2 hours and maybe more depending on powerbank mah. I tested 5 powerbanks with similar 2.4a specs with a max capacity of 15, 000 mah.
If video or usage on a fully charged powerbank/dummy batt setup exceeds safe usage levels stable enough for power operation on camera, the camera will turn off and freeze with barrel fully extended or during zoom operation, so be careful.

Regards to cine d and v thou, should i expose over by 1-2 stops.
Cheers
