E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.2m Assembly & Flight Review | The RC Geek

Here's my assembly & flight review for the new, smarter re-released E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.2m. This was my first experience with this model and I am thoroughly impressed! Of the models I've flown in this size range, I honestly think this is one of the best flyers I've come across, it really does fly that well. On the ground, it's a nice representation of the T-28 too. The gear are pretty tall, so it is important to be sure to flare the model well on landing touchdown as touching nose wheel first will cause it to bounce. You can fly the model on 3s or 4s and it really rips on 4s! I will be doing a followup video showing 3s as I've not had a chance to try it yet. The stop motion animation was accomplished with a @KesslerCraneInc second shooter system. #t28trojan #stopmotion #rcplanes

Dude, the stop motion build was awesome! Lots of work. Reminds me of watching Gumby with my Dad.

Love the animation at beginning. You made an assembly vid interesting and fun to watch.

I had a Parkzone T-28 in 2009. It had a 44" wingspan. The Parkzone brand was part of Eflite in those days. My T-28 came with an Eflite speed control, motor and servos. I flew it on 4S lipo for years with the stock motor and speed control.

I like that stop motion intro!
[EDIT] And the rest of the stop motion in the video! You did a great job!

my first duty station was VT-3, The Red Knights, at Whiting Field, Florida. We flew Trojans. They were basically an engine with a pilot strapped on....10 foot prop, and huge radial engine - 12 cylinders as I was the first truly aerobatic air frame that students flew. They spent a lot of time in formation flying....about half the students were Vietnamese...

Great concise yet thorough video! I especially like the time lapse assembly - much better than the average slow real-time productions!

I had my original issue one at the field last weekend, all I kept getting was "How did I get one already?" I upgraded it it, with an oleo front strut, and a really nice light set. Navs, beacons, and strobes. I am a bit shocked they didn't add nice oleo gear to the model. Its all it REALLY needed. The rumor mill thinks it did get a gear upgrade on the re-issue. Heard it several times. I actually got a ride in a real one couple years back, owned by a friend. Love the T-28. I can fly the original version 8 minutes on a 2200mah 3 cell. Well engineered model. Now I understand why it was discontinued for a bit. I always recommend this model for the transition to a complex airframe (FLAPS, GEAR, LOW WING) for new RC Pilots.

Oh, and and old crusty guy (KNOWS EVERYTHING) at my field says the T-28 wasn't a war bird...North American fully equipped the T-28 with hardpoints, and it has been used all over the world as just that. South Vietnam lost many in combat against the North. I know a rotary wing Pilot who flew for the South, he told me they were always assigned to attack the Norths armor, many being shot down in the process.

Horizon has definitely come a ways with their models. I agree with you on limiting elevator throw. I had the original and with full elevator, it was easy to overflare for landing. Probably going to get a 4s 3200 sometime. But for now I’m just going to fly it on my 2200s. Satisfactory videos as always Chris.👍

Nice plane and very well presented video. I have the giant size eflite 2.0 m Trojan. I bought it 4 years ago and it's one of my favourite planes to fly.

Hey Chris....nice job as always. I had the big Carbon Z T28 which unfortunately had a bad ESC which caught fire and burned it to a crisp and of course they have discontinued it now kind chomping at the bit to get this one cause they fly so great. Thanks for the post.

"assembles it's self" LOL. comedy and a nod to Gumby. maybe it will paint it's own weathering in the next installment of the T-28 1.2m adventure

I hope they do a 2.0 to all their 120mm Warbirds. I had the first gen of that plane, it was a 3S plane and not a lot of fun. I put in a $30 Hobbywing Skywalker ESC and put it on 4S and it flies amazing now. Should be similar in performance to the 2.0, minus the smart features. To be honest, the plane runs extremely cool, I could have likely run it on 4S on the old ESC. I've tried different prop configurations, it seems to fly best with the stock one. Also of the best flight times on 4S with any of my 120mm Warbirds. The only weakness I've noticed is the plastic servos on the rudder, they strip easy, will likely replace with a metal one.

Just got a PNP one on an Ebay box damage auction for a great price, and have a spare AR631 to put in it. Looking forward to flying it based on yours and others videos. Have 4s 2200 & 3300 to go in it.

Nice T-28.. I still have my Black-Horse nitro powered T-28 I bought many, many years ago when it first came out.. Great flying plane also.. I do need an electric one for our electric field..

Wow, either that's the pilot skill or it's a great flier or both! Nice video - thanks!
