Quite informative, thanks for sharing. What I actually do to find cameras on my network is simply go to the router interface and look at the list of attached devices. No LAN scanning software required.

I installed AXIS cameras at a shopping strip in Randallstown, Maryland. Those were fun to play with.

I have abut 20 Axis cams in my environment, they are good but I have had several of the m206's go bad. They are EOL now so its not a bid deal for prospective buyers, unless you are buying used... I just installed a 32-cam NVR unit form Onix and am quite impressed, although it wasnt my first choice. I was pushing for a more flexible unit but the brass were being a pain in my ass and purchased the NVR unit behind my back.

Axis does make good equipment with good support. There are other brands to look at as well Sony, Mobotix, Bosch, Ganz, GeoVision, etc. They all have good warranties, support, build quality, training, etc. Although we haven't seen any updates since 2012, IMS research reported "network camera sales are forecast to account for approximately 60% of total worldwide surveillance camera sales by 2016". We think that will be sooner than later, get ready and get trained on IP. Subscribe to Eli's channel! Its nice to know what your opinion is. Thanks for the video! Thumbs up here!

Excellent video! I had a client ask me about video survellience a few days ago. I think I'm going to check out Axis. It has everything they said they wanted (particularly, the smartphone companion app). Thanks!

I bought a Q-See Easy View Wireless IP Camera with a Gift Card I got for Menards for Christmas.  It's ok for keeping an eye on things at home when I am not there, but that's about all it''s good for, the audio quality is not the greatest.  I do like the fact that it has night vision capabilities.  If I decide to put any more cameras up around my home, would wireless be ok, or would running cable camera's be worth my trouble?

23:30 I ran into the same problem. I’m using a Mac and when I went to download the Axis Camera Companion my choices were Windows, iOS or Android - so I guess that is better than just windows. I looked in the App Store and couldn’t find the axis camera companion. Hopefully I will be able to run the iOS app on macOS.

I did run LanScan and it did not find my Axis camera - I suspect because the Axis camera is on a different subnet and I have it connected without a router.

Hahaha I just read your "Cool Experiences" on your website and it's really impressive and funny! Thanks for all your training videos on this completely new world for me in Networking! Your lazy furry helper is so cute! If you have any suggestion on how you can promote the sells of all this products (cabling, video surveillance, telephone systems, VoIP, etc) it would be really appreciated :)

Hey Eli is there any chance you could expand on this series by talking more about smart/intelligent cameras? Maybe go into VCA's and analytic behind the cameras?

Eli, of all the web cameras I've... erm "accessed" axis seems to be the most likely to come up. They aren't that secure. Sure they're good quality and are used in lots of facilities but they aren't all that secure.

Eli, Great video. What was your role as a Security Integrator (sales, engineer, tech)? Why aren't you doing security anymore?
