At least there are some sane people, even though no longer in government.  YES,  I oppose this proposal of a gas tax !!  We pay enough federal, state and local taxes on gasoline now. 
For God's sake, USE THE MONEY THEY ARE COLLECTING NOW and it's no small amount

How Embarrassing  our infrastructure has decayed and yet our federal and local gas taxes have been collected every year after year. Politicians collect your money then turn around and spend it on everything except what is was collected for. Maybe keep your dirty hands out of the till and we would have the funds to rebuild our roads with out increasing taxes. Stop supporting all these illegals  would be a good start for saving road money. Why are we talking about it now? Because Trump gave you a TAX BREAK and now they want it back, Can't let the little people have a little wiggle room in their paychecks.

There is plenty of gas tax collected to fund infrastructure. If they would spend that money properly there would be no issue.

Nothing wrong with a gas tax. In my country all the Highways are paid and maintained by a gas tax. it is fair, the one who is using it more will contribute more. The good thing is, if you dont have a car, you dont pay gas tax!
NB: 25 cents per Gallon is not much.

Hell, tax them all and thank yourselves lucky you don't live in the UK, Petrol over here is avg Unleaded = £121.6 - Premium = £132.2, a litre which works out around = $171.36 to 186.30 a litre, ... Now Diesel is a little bit more these days. So for a gallon, you work it out, you people have some of the best prices in the western world, Pay the tax and thank yourselves lucky.
