Produced between 1971 and 1981, the coins features the words 'new pence' instead of 'two pence', wording which was used on all of the two pennies produced in that decade. Coin expert site The Royal Mint explains that the word 'new' was incorporated into the design for 1/2p, 1p and 2p coins in 1971 to avoid confusion with the old coinage.Currently the lowest priced coin is on at £680, marketed by a seller with 100% feedback and dated 1980.
