What is the average cost to grind a stump? In my area the minimum cost to grind a stump is a $100 to come out and a grind stump or do stump removal.
The cost depends on how far to travel, location, things around the stump causes the price to go up. Thanks for watching!

I never understood why a contractor would charge less to come out to a property and grind a stump for less than homedepot or any rental place rents a machine for which is $200 or more on average, and the homeowner not only need to pick it up, but has to grind their own stump, cleanup machine, refill and bring back to the store.

Good price! Olympia/Seattle area is a higher cost of living. My minimum is $250. My grinder is remote controlled which is really nice.

A minimum is a must. I `m at $150.00 min if it is within 10 miles from me and up to about 20 inches or so.
Just remember if you hit a rock or something you end up loosing a tooth . People around here seem to like to put little rock gardens around their trees . Even though your only on the job for 15- 20 minutes you still have drive time, fuel and wear & tear on your truck, trailer and equipment,
Grinding really slows down after Thanksgiving up here. People start spending money on Christmas shopping instead of outdoor projects.

Your stump grinder is sweet! Minimums are important to have. Thanks for sharing! Do you call 811 when you’re stump grinding? I have for most, usually don’t run into any line issues.

Nice grinder, i have an 03 non super 50. Mine does the job well enough to where upgrading isn't necessary, but i would definitly be happier with 17 more ponies and 4x4.

Chris, I subscribe to your site, find it tremendously informative. For someone starting off in stump grinding (soon!) how do you charge or handle when asked to remove the wood chips? i notice on other sites there is such mix of results. Some guys will put chips back in stump hole, others suggest to home owners to let chips set in another area for 9 months. What is the charge to remove chips? Do you ever just leave the chips where they fall? Thanks Chris for a great site.

one of my moms neigbors wanted a brick fixed. i told her to tell her i charge 150 min and i could do it with material i had on hand. my mom said i shouldn't charge her a min just for an easy job so close and i told her. i could sit her with you enjoying my time with my mom or i could go fix her brick

So why are you not using the dual wheels that came with your stump grinder?? Do you call 811 to check for utilities lines

Same as me on price and min. Those roots run forever on that type of tree.

Do you remove the chips or charge extra if they want them removed

How much does a machine like that cost?

Minimum should be moew likw $200. I charge that sometimes just to go out for an estimate on any type of job. Perhaps if you are in a poor area I could understand charging less.

Seems like a lot for such a small stump. I mean, it's not like that Rayco cost's that much. Low maitenance. 😂😂

Don't that seem overkill for that little stump?

100$ doesnt even justify the labor here or bringing out a expensive machine that if anything breaks on it, then wheres that 100$ going? Way in the negatives. Plus gas for machine and your travel time.

Alot of things that should have a price not just the stump itself.

Way to cheap it shouldn’t matter if it takes 10mins or a hour plumbers and electricians get paid thousands for little to nothing done I would charge easy 200 at least or else it’s not even worth it your machine messes up 100$ is not gonna help you fix it
