Morcheeba - The Sea - Big Calm (1998)

Flocking to the sea
Crowds of people wait for me
Sea gulls scavenge
Steal ice cream
Worries vanish
Within my dream

I left my soul there,
Down by the sea
I lost control here
Living free

I left my soul there,
Down by the sea
I lost control here
Living free

Fishing boats sail past the shore
No singing may-day any more
The sun is shining
The Water's clear
Just you and I walk along the pier

I left my soul there,
Down by the sea
I lost control here
Living free

I left my soul there,
Down by the sea
I lost control here
Living free

A cool breeze flows but mind the wasp
Some get stung it's worth the cost
I'd love to stay
The city calls me home
More hassles fuss and lies on the phone

I left my soul there,
Down by the sea
I lost control here
Living free

I left my soul there,
Down by the sea
I lost control here
Living free

I left my soul there,
Down by the sea
I lost control here
Living free

I left my soul there,
Down by the sea
I lost control with you,
And living, living,
And I, living, by the sea

This song gives me glimpse of the feeling that young me had, completly free, not worried at all, fantastic sweet feeling.

As someone with past-cardiac issues, a high heartbeat is a terrible thing when trying to sleep. I put Morcheeba on, her subtle silky velvety voice, the tune, the beat that makes you feel as if you're on holiday.

Always does the trick. Nice and relaxed.

This is one of my favorite songs ever. It gave me so much consolation and hope during my teenage years and I still love it 20+ years later ! It's so easy and calm and still makes me feel like everything is going to be just fine.

Why don't they make music like this anymore? Found this song on the Zero 7 channel and instantly fell in love! Totally awesome! These guys were way ahead of their time!

Prayer for the day "to have the confidence to sing out loud and not shy away from singing in front of people" x

I watched their concert live in Solana Beach in San Diego 2017 I love their music since I was 25 yrs old now I'm in my 40s still luv them. I first heard their album in a cafe in downtown San Diego. Her voice is so smooth and seductive I will never get tired of it.😘

I think if a person lacks self confidence. Music is such a remedy. No matter what your mood, music has the place for you during good and sad times. Musical Sound and voice is one of those miracles in life. x

Odd story, in 2000 I lived in a bombed out town in the Balkans, the house literally had no roof, it was freezing, I slept under a carpet and there was ice in the bathroom, my roomate for a while was a guy who spoke 7 languages and only drank tea and ate apples and nuts, it was like living at the end of the world and the beginning of time, and after the roomate left, I would sit on the couch at night and listen to Morecheeba over and over . . I finally got out

They should have been way more popular. Her voice is pure silk.

When life is chaos I always come back to this song to find peace. My go to song cruisin the Lakefront in New Orleans or the beach on the Gulf Coast. Thank you for this great gem!! I've been a fan for years!!

Whew, what a journey. I used to own this album sososo long ago. I intuitively chose her out of a pile of names I had never heard of. She was always there; always gave; and never disappointed. My chosen companion through so many trials and tribulations of my youth. Honestly, I can't remember where and when we parted ways, but hearing it on the end credits to a show I was watching, I had to come here looking for my old friend. After the literal and figurative storms I weathered today, it's like finding a lighthouse I didn't know I was even looking for. She found me... again.👭
