For the foreseeable future, developers will still be needed. Even if AI can code, it is dependent on the instructions given to it to be solved. Ask it the wrong thing, and it will fail. Real developers will still be needed to amend and tweak code and to check that it does what is required.

I think we all know how easy it is to mess up code, and AI is struggling with how many fingers to put on a human hand? The future of programmers will be to search through AI generated code and figure out what went wrong and where. And I bet there will be a lot of that work.
