After singers like Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, Abhijeet ran their course from the 90s and early 00s... directors wanted new voices. The next crop of singers headlined by Sonu Nigam and other singers like Shaan and Kunal Ganjawala, KK dominated the rest of the 2000s. Kumar Sanu retired in 06 and Udit was getting less songs to sing since 06 his last big song was Khaike Paan from Don.
