We got one of the "dumb" old style vacuums for my Luddite parents (age 88 and 91). It's been fabulous. They don't have to deal with programming or apps, but also I don't have to go to their house and vacuum every week.

Im saving up for one.
I really struggle keeping my house in order and for that, automate everything is a must for me.
My inatentive adhd make things very impossible sometimes.
From cleaning or eating or doing paperwork on time.
So the less i have to do the smaller the change i get distracted by other tasks and forget stuff because getting side tracked.
So im trying to fully automated my house as in cleaning and kitchen that cooks for me at times and get food and coffee ready when i wake up.
So a robot like that is a important part.

There are some robot vacuums that do have cameras for obstacle(and poop) avoidance like the Roborock S7 MaxV. You can view the camera in the app and remotely "drive" the vacuum using the video feed.

Great video! My biggest concern about robot vacuums isn't the cameras, but the uploading of data about the layout of my house to a company's cloud. Until a company comes along that offers all of these features on a vacuum that can be used without internet access, robot vacuums will remain off limits for my family.

One only needs to look at the current Eufy scandal to understand why self-hosting and complete offline support should be mandatory features for any "smart" device before it gets installed in a home.

What about for plebs like us who don't have the entire apartment evenly flat but have little elevation differences and there is like this 1inch gap between the hallway and living room? can it traverse that?

Coffee check. Wouldn't it be great if the robo vacuum could clean spillages. Vacuum cleaning is therapeutic so I will stick with my Shark wand cleaner. You have a cool job. 👍

Thank for this review! Please would you recommend this to me? It’s not available in my country, so if the liquid cleaner runs out i would be in trouble i guess. So can i use local detergents? And how can i let it use the liquid only for floor and not carpet?

Maybe if people didn’t want to own such big homes, if we all lived in smaller homes like our parents and grandparents did after WW2, cleaning wouldn’t take so long. Have kids and spouse help out after work/school or on a Saturday morning; instead of taking hours, takes maybe one or two tops to complete.

I live in a studio with all hardwood flooring (no floor mats), I don’t even own a vacuum, haven’t for a while. Dry mop most of the time, wet mop once or twice a week to pick up stains. When my current large pock of Swiffer dusters are done, I plan to transfer to reusable dusters; after i clean the floor once or twice, throw into the laundry to clean. Cleaning is quick, easy, QUIET.
