Tragic!!?? Appreciate the review. The car is beautiful. As for the trackpad, TRAGIC..HARDLY, bro'. ADULTS who own an LC 500 hardly ever use the trackpad. ADULTS read the OWNER'S MANUAL and learn about all the features of the car and also VOICE COMMAND. Then, the first thing they do is run MENU/SETUP and select their default personal preferences which takes care of 95% of EVERYTHING. You can go back and change your preferences as often as you like. The trackpad is mainly there so you almost never have to use it. Using VOICE COMMAND, simply press the TALK button on the left side of the steering wheel, wait for the BEEP and then TELL THE CAR WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. No trackpad involved! For instance: "press button, wait 2/10ths second for beep, say "radio", say "AM 760" and the radio goes to that station. Or, press button, "say FIND, say PIZZAHUT and you get several choices, say the CHOICE NUMBER" and your GPS will guide you there. Or say "Text John Smith and tell him I'll be ten minutes late". In the rare event where VOICE COMMAND won't do everything, such as warm the seats, you simply press the button and say "SHOW SEAT HEATER SCREEN" and you're right there to simply slide your fingers up or down a bit. So, having covered this "trackpad is TRAGIC" subject, we can now all agree on one thing. This car sells for about one-third of what it is worth. When you consider EVERYTHING including Lexus RELIABILITY which means it will never leave you stranded by the side of the road at 2 a.m. because a cheaply made, poorly designed circuit board failed and/or if you ever needed one new wheel bearing it won't cost $750.00, as compared to many other cars costing three times the price, THIS IS THE ONE HELLUVA CAR. The ONLY problem is the lazy people who refuse to read "The Instruction Manual"...like you! Had you taken the time to give Lexus an honest review, people wouldn't be shaking their heads and thinking about the trackpad. Lexus allowed and expected YOU to do your job and like so many other reviewers, you assumed YOU KNEW EVERYTHING there was to know about this car without opening THE BOOK. God forbid if people like YOU ever sell their Cessna 172 single prop planes and buy a Learjet 60...assuming they know it all. Crash and burn?? The LC 500 is a very high-tech, complex machine designed by world-class engineers. They don't want you to use the trackpad WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING. It's there mainly so you almost never have to use it. In the four years I've owned my LC 500, I can count the number of times I've had to use the trackpad on one hand. You simply TALK TO THE CAR. What the hell could be easier than that? If you're thinking the TOUCH SCREEN is a better way to go, then you've really missed it completely. Using the TOUCH SCREEN, which is dirty, greasy, oily, smudgy and probably scratched, means you have to take your eyes off the road while sometimes traveling at speeds of more than 100 feet per second. How is THAT better??? Keep in mind that any bozo can hop in a car, drive it and give their opinion but that's not your job. Your job is to give an honest review. Please do that the next time a manufacturer gives you a car to evaluate. You owe them that much!!
