Oh Dr. Schwarcz... Caffeinated coffee is "Leaded" ... Decaf coffee is "Unleaded". Sometimes Librarians will refer to these types of coffee as "Hardbound" and "Paperback"

Hey Doc, keep up the good work. Enjoyed very much, the round about on the way to the point was very entertaining and instructive. Love it when I learn something.

Lead was added to gasoline to protect valve seats in old days.
Did not increase octane or power.

Interesting video. But yes, leaded vs. unleaded coffee refers to regular vs. decaf, not strong vs. weak. The analogy is based (I think) on a misconception that lead is a naturally occurring impurity in gasoline that must be removed to make it unleaded. Or maybe there's no misconception and it's just because both are almost the same as their counterparts, just lacking one ingredient.

Interesting but been used a long time.
There are huge differences in blends.

So that's what I like to wake up to good "leaded coffee" or is it "Lead Joe"?
