Amnesty International has teamed up with Forensic Architecture, a research agency based at Goldsmiths, University of London, to recreate the horrors of Saydnaya, a Syrian torture prison near Damascus, through an interactive 3D model.

This video demonstrates the model of the prison, and features interviews and testimonies from researchers at Forensic Architecture, from Philip Luther, Middle East and North Africa Programme Director at Amnesty International, and with former prisoners at Saydnaya.

Prison freed today 2024/12/08. The regime has fallen. Let’s hope the new government doesn’t repeat the cycle.

I am Syrian. to all human beings who are reading my comment. no matter what proof we provide to the outside media of how faciest this regime is there are still people who deny it, call it US propaganda, and justify what assad is doing because he is fighting "terrorism". even though he is been doing this since 1980 before alqaeda even existed. you know what people, I don't care anymore, Ive lost faith in humanity. people believe what they want to believe and never challenge their beliefs. go on and defend assad as you wish but remember one thing. assad is leaving one day and someone else will take his place.

"We urgently need your help. This is very important and time-sensitive. We need the blueprint of the Ferdnaya prison building because it is absolutely necessary to address this situation. Please, anyone who can help us, please do so. This is extremely urgent."

It is now fitting to inform everyone, all prisoners inside this prison were released about an hour ago.

Edit: There are reports from released prisoners that there are underground secret cells that cannot be directly accessed from within the prison. The search for these underground levels is still undergoing, but the Syrian civil defense "The white helmets" have not yet found evidence to support this. But the search continues.

Imagine getting locked up for having an opinion or educating others about their rights and fighting for them and facing torture not only fake accusations

What is frusturating is this was all known. Syrians were telling these for years. Nobody believed in them. Syrian people didn't deserve this.

We continue to hear horrific stories of torture perpetrated by the usual suspects, year after year, and we raise our voices and rattle our swords and subscribe to the wrongness of it all and NOTHING ever changes. How is it that with so much being protested worldwide, nothing seems to be done, other than an increase in our own self awareness. I wonder what comfort that affords the victims of this atrocity.

The figure that 15, 000 people have been killed in Syrian regime detention centers only accounts for the evidence brought forth by the ex-officer known as 'Caeser', who used to work in just one of such facilities. According to estimates from Syrian activists the number of people who were last known to be held in prison or are 'missing' is to the tune of 250-300k (if not more). If we study the manner in how the Assad regime has dealt with those held in detention in the past, we see a minority of them actually ever come out alive. This means that the true number of Syrians killed in Assad's prisons since 2011 is, by all likelihoods, no less than 100, 000 people.

Wow, beyond horrible. Speechless. They push you to wish if you are never born. I saw a documentary about Guantanamo, even worse than Guantanamo. No words can be strong enough to describe. The error. Human beings are monsters to each other.

Having now seen inside, it's remarkable how close the recreations were to reality.
