Tarja will always be the voice for me but no doubt Floor Jansen has brought the band to a new level, Annette was the underdog that held her own and I respect and admire her for that.

It's such a pity to divide this amazing band depending on who's the singer. I'm a new Nightwish fan and have listened like a maniac to all songs with all three singers and I got stuck with Floor but when my mood changes I listen to Anette or Tarja -solo or with Nightwish-with the same pleasure, other metal bands as well. I just can't make any discriminations, it depends on your tastes and mood of the moment.

Yeah it sucked part of it is that Tarja and Toumas were childhood friends. Part of the vibe was their friendship made the music great.

Not sure why people are so pressed with the band writing letters to fire people. Sometimes it just doesn't work out or like Anette said, the chemistry isn't there and you have to break bonds and kick people out. It's just like an every day job, you receive a letter of resignation and you're given a notice. That's how it works everywhere, including in bands. Don't be pressed about it.

Anette was the weakest singer of the three. However, during her time with Nightwish, the band was the most successful commercially. Anette's voice was more conducive to popular consumption (pop) and reached a greater audience than just metalheads. It also led to Marko having a bigger role to compensate which I appreciated. Tuomas put a lot of hurt, rage, and passion into Dark Passion Play whereas the last two albums have been a bit pretentious.

People complain that she is the weakest singer, but with her, the band ironically scored their two biggest selling albums. Floor might be the better singer, but Tuomas pumps out substandard excuses for music these days. Especially with his over-reliance on those goddamn awful Uillaean Pipes.

Anette on Nightwish was a mistake. She is good and some fans can praise her for her hard work on both records, but she wasn't right and all the hate she gotten was totally their fault.

All of you saying 'all nightwish singers sound great' are clearly newer fans, and maybe 20 yrs old or less. As on OG from 2000, no, Annette was the worst choice and Tuomas knew it. Probably after the sex stopped. 😂
Cmon! A pop indie singer to replace a classicly trained vocalist? Nahhhh. Im not going to pretend I like her just because the world is sensitive these days.
