When you're a kid you don't realize how precious this scene is. You can see how much they love each other and it's the kind that lasts.

That’s what Disney taught me. Finding true love and I still want that. This scene is so beautiful❤

You ever see an animated scene and you know the head animator knew what love really felt like? This is one of those scenes for me.

I love how we never see there childhood romance because we don't need to. You have their voices, facial expressions and actions we don't need a flashback to see how their love began because you can already tell how in love they are.

This is one of the most romantic, if not THE most romantic scene in the history of Cinema PERIOD (Animated AND Live-Action). And you won't find out its deepness until you'll be adult (actually found the whole movie even better as an adult - As C.S.Lewis said: "if a work for children can be only enjoyed by children, it's a bad work for children"); and maybe you'll have done lots of mishaps about love, friendship and social relations in general. I'm now coming out of a terrible period of misanthropy, loneliness and self-loathing, and the works which are helping me into my recovery are Dante's "Divine Comedy", Mahler's Tenth Symphony, Verdi's "Otello" (after Shakespeare, obviously)... and this movie.
Not a single word, and yet the way they gaze into each other's eyes says everything - The magic of maybe the best ever team of animators (Walt Disney's personally chosen "Nine Old Men"). What's most extraordinary, it's two antropomorphic foxes being in love... and yet absolutely zero "uncanny valley" feeling, on the exact contrary the use of such well-designed "anthro" animals helps being able to have the correct mixture of detachement and involvement as of necessary to our comprehension of what's going on; and reflecting upon it (ok, know here we might sneak the whole unfamous "f*rry-fandom" thing, but please, to me that's one of the worst cases possible of "misaimed fandom").
The song is so simple, and yet its lyrics are so poignant and true.
And the ring made out of a waterlily? Cherry on the cake: its "market value" is zero; but it's made with such intense feeling, it's actually more valuable than every other ring on the Earth. I might drop the comparison with the eponymous ring from Wagner's Tetralogy, made out of the Gold of the Gods and which bestows the one which holds its possession power upon all the World; but eventually only causes only a lot of wars and trouble, until the whole Universe is destroyed (not quoting Wagner by random - I think this movie for me has been gateaway into a lot of "High Culture" stuff!).
The waterlily ring is the exact contrary: it's nothing... and yet the lovers know it's everything.

This whole movie is an absolute gem. Know it's polarizing, people either loves it or hates it, I risk being labeled as a "f*rry" just because I've praised it, but come on: it's hearthwarming, silly, romantic, dramatic, comedic at the same time. We're to used to "Dark and Edgy" works all the time, this one on the exact contrary shows you can do egregious things with colour and warmth.

For some reason the image of them going behind the waterfall to their cozy home stayed with me my whole life. I don’t know why

I used to watch the Disney VHS of Robin Hood at home back in the 90s in my childhood when I was Little Hallingbury Primary School kid age. Small boy.
I watched it many times.
