In this video we show you how to build a horizontal langstroth hive. This is by far the easiest and best beehive we have found. The build is intimidating at first but once you get past the router cuts, it's extremely easy. Happy building and bee keeping!

A little about us:
In September 2015, our hearts were hijacked with the dream of living on a large farm, with community, growing food, caring for animals and loving on children in need of care and healing. It was a God moment, where our dreams collided with His dreams… a dream so big we could never do it in our own strength and wisdom. Since then, we have been on a journey to see that dream become a reality. This channel documents that journey.

Excellent tutorial. Not everyone has a shop at home, so thanks for making it where just about anyone can follow along. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us.

Also instead of making a ledge to inset the frames, one could install 1" quarter round, flat edge up, inside the box, making a spot to set the frames. No router needed!

Instead of a slot for the entrance, drill 5 holes the size of a wine cork. This way you can easily open or reduce the entrance.

Great video, suggestion for safety reasons never cut on a table saw using both the fence and sliding guide at the same time.

Hope your dream is going stronger with the strength of our Lord. Really gratefull that I came across your video and all the links below. Just come across Doug and Stacy's video's last week and now yours. ....and now you link me to them again ...just wonderful how the Lord works as and guides us. Was looking for a video on how to make diy beehives and thought i'll watch this one. I was looking for Plans. We want to start beekeeping and maybe sell some boxes.
Thank you.

When I started watching this video I thought gee, to bad he didn't have a table saw, he could have cut the spaces for the frames to sit in with it.Then you cut your landing boards on your table saw! At this point I realized that you are just like me, a tool junkie! Never pass up the chance to buy a new tool :-). Thanks for making this video. I think this will be one of my winter projects.

Appreciate the video, my only complaint would be not using wood glue. As wood age's it warps and screws gets loose.
Titebond III 16 oz. Ultimate Wood Glue features a waterproof formula that offers superior bond strength. (would be my suggestion)

What I love about the natural method taught by Dr. Leo is the absence of chemical interventions! Hoping to get the BF to build me one of these!

Excellent video man. Only thing I'm going to do different is instead of a slot opening ( I don't have a router), is drill multiple holes across and also make a custom slide out of some scrap aluminum as a slide cover ( in case invaders become more than the bees can defend). No I have to go to your channel page and see if you made your own frames too, because I liked this video so much.

I randomly wanted to start a beehive and then i saw the price to buy one and i ws like "Well you don't have the skill anyways" I thought that has the end because i thought that i just shouldn't because well that would be too much effort and i dont have that kind of skill. but i decided to look this up anyways. thank you for giving me a new task (If i get up to make this that is)

How did you do the sides where the frames drop in ? Did you make spacers so the inner lid boards don’t sit right on top of the frame rails, basically so you have room for a pollen patty and free travel ?
