I started playing this game 2 weeks ago but I've been grinding it lately. The first time I saw a troll I freaked out and ran all the way back home.

You can use the stone throwing to get early game copper and tin, as his rocks destroy deposits

A good point to make for new people. Make sure you are rested. You stamina regen and health regen are a lot higher too in case anyone is struggling

Once you learn the parry timing for trolls they get very easy. Trolls are weak to spear damage, so pick up a spear and shield, wait for the troll to hit you and parry their attacks. It takes about 3-4 parries to kill them with a flint spear and about 1-2 parries with a bronze spear.

For the Troll Cave - I just ran in shot 2-3 arrows - ran out of the cave. Rinse and repeat :) They do not regain health

Great tutorial. The trolls scared the bejeebers out of me when I first stumbled into the Black Forest. Terrifying!

Trolls in caves are easier but take longer. What you do is enter the cave and just as he hits you turn around and exit. Note if you enter he will be in the same spot waiting... trick turn around 10 steps and he will reset to back of the cave. Usually you can get 2 shots off, rinse and repeat.
Also another tip for trolls out in fields place a fire and get a rest bonus before you engage. Great channel btw

I find it fun to sneak up on them and backstab with the knife weapon using the special attack. It usually hits them for over half their health and then you just go into the kiting method you showed with a bow to finish the fight.

You can get good wood early game by using other trees. Taked longer, but if you chop a beech tree down you can roll the log into a birch tree.

Thanks, I killed my first one today, this particular one killed me twice already so I'm very happy to be wearing his hide. It took a bit to kill him though, I'm kind of worried how this is going to play out in the woods.

Finding trolls on the edge of the forest is lucky. All mine have been deep in the forest!

This is a great tip for someone without a good handle for the controls. If you’re more comfortable, dodge-rolling is incredibly effective. Use your stamina wisely while taking pot shots at his legs with your weapons. There are I-frames in the dodge much like Dark Souls. Just don’t block his attacks unless you have loads of stamina and a great shield

BRUH. So I was making a little town in the middle of the black forest so I'd have a safe place to explore, I'd spent about two hours on it (because I'm slow) the durability on all my stuff is low, and I'm out of food and arrows. I walked into one of my houses and a fricking trOLL popped up right next to me. I logged off in terror and have not yet logged back on yet

Actually there's a way to easily kill them using melee, just keep dodging to the right as they swing their attacks as they don't have any attacks that swing to their left if that makes sense

Maybe too late here, but you can find a black forest biome in the minimap because it's ground is way darker than those of the Meadows that usually surround it. Also, when you are close to a black forest the sky turns dark, in case you don't see the trees

I got fine wood early. Used a regular tree to knock down a fine tree. Then after I had a few I used them to break each other. 👌
