This video (Part 1 of 2) describes the step-by-step preparation for writing the summary of a newspaper article (news report, editorial, column etc), beginning with how to survey the article, how to skim it while taking notes and then how to organize the notes in terms of how they are related to the central idea. The next video (Part 2 of 2) will begin from right where this clip leaves off and discuss the mico-strategies that are applied to convert the notes into the summary.
