*JGI does not endorse handling or close proximity to wildlife. This represents a sanctuary context with trained professionals.*

The Jane Goodall Institute’s Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center in the Republic of the Congo is a safe haven for chimpanzees and other wildlife rescued from threatened habitat and abuse. To help combat the illegal wildlife trade, JGI has formed the JGI RoC Canine Detection Unit — a unique team of Tchimpounga Park Rangers and dogs specially trained to sniff out wildlife trafficking. Tchimpounga Rangers train these intelligent dogs 6 days a week to make sure they are experts: using their powerful senses to sniff out illegally trafficked wildlife and resources to make JGI's sanctuary a safe and hopeful place.

This video is provided by the Jane Goodall Institute USA Communications & Partnerships team, and it is made possible by the generous support of the Jane Goodall Institute's family of donors, partners, and digital archive partner MediaValet.
