Another tip, raise sails completely wait till the Meg is directly in cannon line and full turn left or right and back two prongs to match the megs movement and speed. Then cannon in a straight line and only adjust height of Canon as you will rotate with the Meg and only have to adjust for waves

I found a shrouded ghost the second week I had the game when I was still a noob. Unfortunately I was neck deep in water and already sinking in a fight 😂

It also pays to pay attention to their behavior, the AI as Rare I believe described somewhere, has each Meg that appears acting in different ways within the confines of its circling of your boat if you engage it. This seems to vary between the speed it circles, and how wide or far out it circles which I've noticed "might" be affected when it's circling you within proximity to a rock...though if you are too close to a rock or island it will stop and hang back till assume you re-enter its zone, or it despawns, the frequency of it making its charge attack also varies, some will charge after you score several hits or might charge without needing the prompting of getting hit.

It might need further testing, but anchoring might affect the personal knockback from its charge as I've taken a direct hit on deck but not been thrown off (though it will take a huge chunk of your health. Anchoring also prevents it from knocking your ship around as I've noticed my position get shifted when it rams my ship (this was during a back-to-back encounter with it and a skelly ship, so had the skelly ship loot as a point of ref.).

Oh and for those not yet "lucky" enough to get both a Meg and Skelly ship spawning on you at the same time, they are from different factions, so much like the phantoms and skeletons they can and will attack each other which can be fun as the Meg almost helps you against the skelly ship, and the skelly ship distracts and maybe even softens the meg up a little.

I have never once been attacked by megalodon, I mean he spawned and circled my ship but has not attacked unless we attacked first. Is this a bug or a feature?

Please help, the manacled Meg hit me and m brother while we were playing. We hit it like 30 - 35 times with a cannon ball, and it would not die. I shoot it a few times as I was driving. It finally went away and a dark blue one came. same thing. The meg's are the worst thing in SOT's. Any further tips?

I mean, the only issue I have with Meg spawn is that they’re always Red Maws…..I have no idea why 😅

Me and my friend just started and we got attacked by 2 other crews and a the purple one was in the mix and we just barley took down the other ships and we left the megalaodn because we where so low on wood we wouldn’t be able too keep the ship up if we stayed too fught it

Man my girlfriend and I just started playing recently. I have thalassophobia, a crippling fear of water, but somehow I've fallen in love with this game. We were playing one of our first sessions and we ran into a Megalodon... A shrouded Ghost megalodon. We were both freaking out and fled to save the 2-3 pieces of loot on our ship and looking back I wish I killed that thing.
