Going in to a BDG video, it's impossible to tell if it's comedy or horror. Leaving a BDG video... it's not a lot easier.

The question of "Will this BDG production be Horror or Musical" is once again answered by "Yes."

Its funny how everything is weird and surreal but Karen is just doing her normal thing.

Only thing it needed was for Brian to wake up and feel a deep sadness and longing for the son he can't remember

all of Brian's chord progressions eventually resolve back to Terry the Tangela's leitmotif, and i think that's beautiful

the "Ah the normal kind" line had me ROLLING. It's so accurate how you just accept blatantly wrong things in your dream without question

Nailed the vibe of how shit just happens in dreams

Genuinely why are dreams like this. You'll be looking at the most horrifying creature imaginable and your brain will just be like "that's your dad. this is normal and perfectly reasonable" and you're just like yeah that tracks

I love how it represents the dream dialogue as script-like. Since you're the one dreaming you're always actually doing both sides of the dialogue, it often does feel "scripted" in a weird way. This captured that really well

The most realistic part of this is how he tried to scream but just a very faint sound came not

It's what makes nightmares so terrifying to me, no matter how hard I try to scream and cry for help nothing comes out

It’s remarkable that you’ve memorised your entire list of people supporting you on Patreon so well you can recount it in your dreams.

Everyone suddenly disappearing right when creepy things start to happen is way too accurate to my nightmares

What really adds to the unsettling nature of it is how Brian and Karen ADR'd their lines and it didn't quite match what their mouths were doing. And how that meant there was no echo or sounds from the environment that should be there. And also made it so their voices stayed the same volume throughout no matter how far away the camera got. Really pushed the oddness of it all to another level.

Edit: ADR means automated dialogue replacement, which means they recorded the audio they spoke later and dubbed it over the footage instead of using audio recorded at the same time as filming in the same space. When done poorly it becomes noticeable, or intentionally poorly as done here, it can weird out audience members like an audio uncanny valley.

the son's acting was incredible, even without words i could feel the raw emotion and sadness at bdg's deathbed

BDG's songs make horror seem really safe and non-threatening. It's like the disassociation I go through to get through the days, but far more catchy and more comforting than the feigned warmth of my parents.

Karen's loose relationship with the laws of reality is what make this feel like a real dream it's great.

Props for, especially in the first half, making the dream actually feel like a dream, complete with non-sequitors and weird effects. So much media plays dreams as “real life with a blurry filter.”

The hamster/raccoon part captures so well when your brain exclusively calls something by another name in your dream, excellently done.

This is a great representation of how other people in your dreams are sometimes both in the scene with you and not in the scene with you at the same time. Hard to show that feeling visually. They did a good job.

Karen's telepathic "see you later" and Brian's even high pitched screaming really gets me
