The Definition of Success | Dr. Laura Berman

I encourage you to challenge our definition of success! Is it really yours? Or have you been measuring your success by a paradigm that isn’t even in alignment with who you are and what you really want?

Try out this exercise yourself: First, write down what success means (or meant) to your parent/s or key caregivers growing up. Then write down what success means to you. Take time to reflect on these. Do these definitions align with each other?

Remember that success means something different to everyone. What matters most is that you focus on YOUR definition of success. That is all that matters.

What is your definition of success? I would love to hear from you in the comments!

My definition of success is seeing my son (25) who has autism, a severe intellectual disability and seizure disorder, smiling and be happy enjoying his favorite activities. What I mean by that is that I embrace his disability instead of wanting to change it. I work in the field as an Autism Consultant in schools (Canada) and I always say to the parents and teachers “you have to work with Autism not against it”. It’s all about the “flow” for them and for you. ❤️

I'd say, based only on having seen you on TV and also what you have revealed here, that you are an astonishingly successful human being by both your own definition AND your parents'...though I don't know (or need to know) your net worth... 😉
