How do you stop pushing people away in relationships?

A viewer wanted to know what she can do about her tendency to push people away, when she starts to get into a serious relationship. Obviously, you are afraid of getting hurt. You can't be! You have to take chances. Everyone gets hurt. But if you don't take the chance, you won't find true love.

Totally know what u mean! I would give him a version of the silent treatment through non-verbal communication! (i.e. less eye contact or by positioning your body away from this person). Nonverbals go a long way, it worked 4 me!

I think the advice is old school. Most people don't want to get into relationships because they can drastically alter ones lifestyle. If you have spent 4 years studing to be a doctor then having casual dates can be a good break. But getting in to a relationship often means you lose control of some aspects of your life. People are not always the same once in a relationship. Your limited to who you can show affection too.

Does being shy/social anxiety turn people off? I know that they are different, but one lends to the other or at least plays a part with the other. Does it make people turn away from you? I feel like no matter what I do, it takes me a long time to get to know anyone, and if there might be a possible chance that a girls likes me, by the time I realize it, they don't care anymore

at least she has been in a relationship. try having social anxiety... i'm going o be 26 on New Years Eve, and I've never been on a date. it is very hard for me to make friends, and I NEVER EVER meet girls. Also I don't have a full time job, I have a part time job with enough hours pay over minimum wage, but that doesn't help. also I may be going back to school which at my age is a huge deterrent to getting a girl, at least it seems that way. & on top of that I don't know if i can handle a girl
