From the Netherlands here, deep respect for Canada and the Canadian people. I am learning a lot about your beautiful ( enormous ) country and the culture. In 2025 a vacation is planned to Vancouver and surrounding area. I can't wait, I really can't wait to go. Will cost me a rib from my body but at least I have to see a part of Canada, especially the mountain areas in BC and AB. Hope to meet some nice people who can direct me to do some exiting things 🧭🏔⛰🏒

I agree about Holland. On my last visit there I broke my glasses and the optometrist reused my attempt to pay. Briefly he explained. You are Canadian. You already paid.,

The Dutch have never forgotten that they were starving at the end of WW2 and then Canada liberated the people of Holland and fed them. Food arrived, often soldier to families and then with air drops. Yes Canada is certainly popular in rural Holland. After WW2 many Dutch farmers came to Canada and revived farming especially in Eastern Nova Scotia. Much credit goes to the Sisters of St. Martha, in Antigonish Nova Scotia, they recognized the condition of farms in the area and promoted Dutch immigration.

You forgot France. When I was in Dieppe (liberated by Canadians in WW2, and the scene of a failed raid. Canada's only defeat in WW2), I saw more Canadian flags than you would see in Ottawa on Canada Day. They were everywhere! And Dieppe was eternally grateful to Canada. When I went into a bar, the French would buy my drinks. There were two parks that were dedicated to Canadians. Never had a problem in France. Although, it was good that I spoke French also.

As a Canadian who commuted to work in the U.S. for many years, I can attest to the fact that there is a strong friendship between Canadians and Americans. The only thing that surprised me was how little Americans really know about Canada. They like our country but most know little about us. 🥰

I exhibit a flag on my back pack...a smallish one...to both take advantage of the good will inherent in my countries reputation AND to make sure no one confuses me with an American...no matter how unfair...I AM CANADIAN.🙏✌️🇨🇦

Wow haven't experienced warm welcomes in USA. Their total lack of knowledge of us and disrespect for anything that isn't American have resulted in many off putting experiences in my travels to the USA. Tired of being treated like it's too bad we hadn't gotten it right like they have. The degree of uninformed ethnocentricity is shocking.

I was watching the royal guards in the UK, on their beautiful majestic horses! ! One of them said in the comment section. When he was a royal guard, the most respectful, polite and loved tourists are Canadian & Japanese! He also said the most disrespectful and arrogant were Chinese and American! His words!

My paternal grandfather was part of the liberation of Netherlands in WWII. He was invited to the 50th Anniversary of the liberation, however due to his trauma (his being unable to talk about his experiences) he was unable to attend. He was proud to be able to help the Dutch, but travelling to the Netherlands and even Europe was difficult as he remembered it as it was during the war.

I visited Denmark as a teenager and went to a club and when some of the people there found out my friend and I were from Canada they started crying and gave us an overwhelming amount of respect.

A lot of Canadians come to Italy to see where their family members fought in WW2, as well.

FYI - In Japan, the popularity of the ‘Anne of Green Gables’ books by Lucy Maud Montgomery called ‘Akage-no-An’ (Red-haired Anne) has meant the continual publication of the Anne books. As Anne Shirley says, you can see “such a lot of different Annes” throughout the series. It is internationally known that the book Anne of Green Gables has a huge fan presence in Japan. From the Green Gables replica at Japan’s Canadian World themed park, to the School of Green Gables created for nursing students, the love of character is strong.

I hate to say it but I don't think you're right about the US. While we are each other's largest trading partners, I have found a lot of Americans to be arrogant about their opinions of Canada and look down their noses at us. They have a false sense of superiority over almost everyone.

As a Canadian I found that in New Jersey and California I got told it was weird to take my shoes off automatically upon entering someones home. I found this weird...it was out of respect

It used to be accepted that the British and French were seen as thinking themselves superior, now it seems they are much more comfortable with blending in with everyone else, and it's Americans who look down on all others

Ireland has a strong connection to both Newfoundland and Cape Breton Island Canada through both music and culture. Visit Newfoundland and the Irish accent is evident in the voices and songs of the people.

Americans respect politeness and good manners?

I would have had the Netherlands higher, perhaps even #1. The respect shown from WW2 ties is still strong. Odd that this history wasn't even mentioned.

And Princess Margriet, eighth in line to the Dutch throne, was born in Canada (Ottawa) while the family sought refuge during WW2..
