‘Yes Chef’ has been in many people’s vocabulary recently since FX’s The Bear aired on Hulu, but that’s actually not where the term originated!

Wait until Food Theory learns about Gordon Ramsey

That moment when Food Theory hasn't watched 21 seasons of Hell's Kitchen to know the true source of the term "Yes, Chef"

I've first heard that phrase thanks to hell's kitchen. If you've seen the show, that kitchen was a battlefield.

Literally anyone whos ever worked in a restaurant will tell you theyve heard or said yes chef countless times... idk how much of an effect The Bear really had

I’m glad everyone recognizes Gordon Ramsey for making the term well known, not whatever this bear show is.

As someone who works in a kitchen, the head chef is often just referred to as just Chef.

I first started saying it because of Grodon Ramsay's show Hell's Kitchen

Im pretty sure it's popularity mostly comes from Gordon Ramsay and not the bear.

Pixar’s “Ratatouille” was the first time that I remember hearing it used.

Pretty sure this was always a Hell’s Kitchen saying… but I might also just be a boomer at this point😅

Look at people way behind the times. I’ve been using this since I was obsessed with Hell’s Kitchen

Hell’s kitchen had me saying this LONG before the Bear

Never heard a single time of this weird bear show as a eu stan. Everyone always watches hells kitchen and I think just as many other commentators before, "yes Chef" was/is clearly popularized by Gordon Ramsey and his shows

I came here hoping to find a literal bear chef, but all I got was a discount Gordon Ramsey

I've literally never heard of The Bear. I know that phrase from Gordon Ramsay's cooking shows

Santi, normally i love your videos, but you are stretching hard for this one. The bear did NOT make "yes chef" a popular phrase. It has been around for years before this show existed. I, for one, first heard it on Hells Kitchen. Also, it was most certainly in french kitchens. I have been a chef for almost a decade. People say that to me on the daily. But i have never heard someone say: "did you get that phrase from The Bear?"

“ ‘Yes, chef!’ is all the rage thanks to The Bear. “

_meanwhile I’m over here having no clue what show The Bear is and hearing only clips of MasterChef in my head_
