Thailand is an always changing landscape. Whether you're planning a vacation in Thailand, or maybe you're planning to retire here being ready to adapt is something you have to be used to. I arrived to Pattaya in July of 2022, and even in that short amount of time sooo much is different. So, what has changed and is it for the better?

Great vid bro. Definitely been noticing the foreigners behaving badly which is why I hit everyone here with sincere and genuine respect. What you mentioned about dating here in pattaya I’ve certainly noticed. It’s fun but dating consistently becomes so expensive you kind of just want to take long breaks from it. All in all, great topics.

First to comment :)

Respect for moving abroad first.

Respect for being NORMAL man. Most man are not that anymore :)

My goal still to live in Thailand forever, Grinding harder in order to live a better life overall.

Improving English as well.

Life is ok.

Always can be better.

My good advice to you mate, if you are bored, sign up for a gym, eat little more food, why?

Overall health. Without that life is harder. Take care.

Hi Ian.

I agree about the "imported local Thais" who are more 🤑 transactional 🤑 oriented than the non-transactional oriented ones (who are very rare to find).

I am very curious about this phenomena, so I often interview them to understand better, and I discovered a couple of patterns, which are:

1.) They were sent to Pattaya by their families from another part of Thailand that is poor - usually from an agricultural area. The thinking is that the family unit will sacrifice 1 from the family to leave the farm and work in Pattaya, where the expected daily earnings is way more than 400 baht per day. This chosen one is expected to support the family back home from their Pattaya earnings,

2.) They desire to leave the poor agricultural back breaking life of the farm for the glamor and fun of living and working in Pattaya - kind of like why many people gravitate to work and live in Las Vegas,

3.) To find a farang in Pattaya and to convince him to give up his Pattaya life and move to the the farm and to support the family.

Ian, what do you think? 🤔

Good insights especially about the lascivious byrds that haven't a care for quality foreigners but have become too obsessed with financial gain.

Do you think you'd ever leave Pattaya and consider Chiang Mai or another place in Thailand (or even somewhere like Da Nang, Vietnam)?

Love your videos and I know you've done Phuket, but seems a shame to spend so much time in a place with lot of the seedy elements you mention here, along with all the great!

Yes. Thailand has changed. Today’s property prices have boomed and are now affordable for the more rich people. To buy a small one bedroom apartment costs around $70, 000. Some may lucky to buy a cheaper one away from the coast, more in town. More foreigners are leaving their own shitty countries to live here now. Traffic is bad everywhere.

The whole world is changing, isn’t it? And not so much for the good. We selfishly hope Thailand doesn’t change too quickly and become Westernized. Then again, we’re here being part of the problem!

Yeah - the girl thing is annoying. The main issue I notice is the girls that speak any reasonable English - in Pattaya - know English for a reason (working girl) whereby if I knew thai, it probably wouldn’t be hard at all. One of life’s many trade offs
