Lilo is convinced that the fish can control the weather because she normally feeds it, but then when she didn’t it rained and her parents died

Anyone else remember the line "oh good, my dog found the chainsaw"?

Lilo just randomly pickling voodoo dolls during a home visit from cps is literally the funniest part of the movie.

Danny i dont think people forgot that stitch was a menace. "Send me an angel the nicest angel you have" and then its just stitch crawling out of what looks like hell with laughter

this is the BEST summary of Lilo and Stich i've ever heard!! "she's throwing hands and then picking them up so she can throw them again"! LMAO!

The reason why everyone loves Lilo despite her being an extremely difficult child is because she's SO realistically written. Nani is 18, when means that their parents have been dead less than a year. Lilo is 6. This is likely her first encounter with death. Kids that age don't even comprehend that death is a thing most of the time. All she knows is mommy and daddy went out for a drive one night and just never came back. Lilo is a menace, but she's a menace in a way that EVERYONE understands the moment she pulls out that picture and says, "It was raining, and they went for a drive." Lilo is hurting, deeply, and at her age, she really doesn't have the words to describe that hurt. Hell, adults usually don't even have the words to explain those emotions. People are able to look past Lilo being a menace because they understand that her lashing out is because she's having all these if emotions and has no way of getting them out, so when they DO finally come out, it's explosive.

I also appreciate that her hula instructor, rather than kicking her out of the class, seems to understand what's happening and is more lenient with her than he likely would have been with one of the other girls if THEY had hit first. He also seems to realize that Lilo IS sorry and isn't just apologizing to get out of trouble.

There's also a storyline explored in one of the sequels that explains that Lilo is super into hula because of her mother, and her instructor probably knows this (I assume mom was probably in charge of getting her to and from class and was probably involved in making her costumes), which is why Lilo is SO passionate about hula and so upset at the possibility of being kicked out. Hula is her last connection with her mother.

The entire Lilo and Stitch universe is SO well connected and thought out. You even get hints as to why Mertle is such a bully sprinkled throughout (her dad walked out on her and her mom and she's ALSO hurting, and is using words to hurt other people instead of her fists). It's just SUCH a good series of movies and spin off TV series.

Lilo is still the most realistic child character ever put to film. The movie understood that kids are *weird* and wasn't afraid to have a character act like that.

The energy everyone gave off in this movie is why it's a top 3 Disney movie for me.

the reason she feeds the fish that "controls the weather" is that her parents died in a storm so she has to protect who she has left.

"I hit murtle edmonds today"
"You hit her?"
"Before i bit her."
Lilo, even if shes a menace, is iconic XD

I remember growing up thinking the cps guy was the villain, but he really just cared about the safety of Lilo and took his job seriously.

I _DO_ remember this movie, because almost everyday for toddler me, I watched this movie _MULTIPLE_ times a day. _EVERYDAY_ EVERY SCENE IS FRESH IN MY MIND I’d even follow along to the words because I knew it word for word as a toddler, to quote The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, “Do not cite the deep magic to me witch, I was there when it was written”

“My friends need to be punished”
Lilo is the queen we all need and deserve. Icon.

I also like that Lilo’s bully looks like the stereotypical sympathetic nerd not the snooty pretty rich girl you’re use to seeing as the bully.

Lilo is the most accurate representation of girlhood in a Disney movie lol

Trust me, I remember every beat of this movie and I still love it. Myrtle wasn’t just a weird kid with glasses, she actively went out of her way to insult and exclude Lilo every chance she got. She absolutely had all of the smoke coming her way, Nani was trying her best to deal with a clear special needs case and work at the same time, and my man David is out here like a zen master just trying to help Nani survive the chaos. It’s all great. 😂
