I started learning g to drive @ the end of August 22. I past my theory test first time in October 22, . I booked my driving test @ the beginning of November 22 and was given a test date for 28/3/23. My driving instructor was able to bring it forward to 15/2/23. Unfortunately I failed first time due to nerves getting the better of me. I booked a further test and given test date for 31/7/23. Although my instructor advised had been test ready since December 22 this backlog caused me to have to take extra driving lessons and pay more costs to sit further lessons not being in a position to sit private lessons with friends or family. The DVSA are currently not fit for the purpose. I felt so strongly about it that I got my MP to write to transport minister for that department who came back with a load of spiel and excuses. I even started a petition online. Thankfully I past my test second time round @ Morden test centre and my instructor was able to bring my test forward for June. I would be interested if others would be willing to come forward with their experiences and perhaps put our heads together to see if something can be done about this. It seriously needs to change I feel.

I passed yesterday with a last minute test. The DVSA have handled the backlog terribly and it took me 3 times. Last minute cancellations are the only way to get it in Pinner (my centre) quickly. I spent 275 pounds to just get that test. Glad I passed and have escaped this horrible system.

I booked my test 2-3 months in advance, then I worked really hard to make sure I was definitely ready for it. I made sure I knew most of the roads and used the Otimo app to do the test routes.

I just wish I passed my test before covid as there was never this issue of finding test dates ever! But I was focused on school at the time. Oh well

I love you. I've just booked a test in newtown wales because of you. Availability in my area is completely null. 4 month waiting etc... Newtown had availability like every single day the next month...

No it's not getting any better and the driving instructors are making it worse. As they are holding up the dates and selling them to upto

Whether a test centre has a high or low pass rate has no aff3ct on your chances of passing. The same standards are applied throughout the country. Its you standard of driving that will be assessed and if you dont meet those standards then you wont pass

It’s insane to me this is still dragging on. I booked my test last May and didn’t get my test until late October, it’s even harder for learners to get a test now.

I passed mine on 21july Hither Green first time, booked back in February, I was the only one in the centre, heard they kept cancelling people in last few days but was lucky enough the test went as scheduled , but make sure you keep checking your appointment on DVSA they can change without notifying you

Do you think the backlog will ever be up to date? I can't see it being possible and people just have to assume now that the average wait time is gonna be 6 months now.

I failed 2nd time in Morden. Gutted, only 2 minors. Car tried to overtake me just before a roundabout, was reckless driver, but was given a serious fault for use of mirrors. Gutting, now have another 6 month wait. I was so ready, done all the test routes, mastered the manoeuvres. Now have another 6 months wait, and feel like I will get rusty in that time as I’m super ready now. Any recommendations for cancellation apps that anyone has had any luck with? DVSA have been so ineffectual at dealing with the backlog, it’s really tough.

I’m lucky that I live near Great Yarmouth because Lowestoft and both Norwich centres are not as busy if you can get your foot In the door and use a cancellation app, there’s always close cancellations. even though the three centres are around 50% pass rate, that’s a lot better than 26%!!!

I failed my driving test last December and am still waiting for my text test. I have a driving test booked October, but hoping to find a cancellation. The struggle is real!
