Scottish bishops express concern over new bill
The Bible could soon be deemed as “Hate Speech” in Scotland – that’s the warning being issued by the country’s Catholic bishops. They have been responding to a new Hate Crime and Public Order Bill which has been introduced to the Scottish Parliament by the Scottish Government. The proposed legislation seeks to extend the law on ‘hate crime’ against particular groups. The Bill lists these as age, race, disability, religion, sexual orientation, transgender identity and variations in sexual characteristics. The draft legislation presently contains free speech clauses in relation to sexual orientation and religion but not in relation to transgenderism. It also creates a new offence of possessing inflammatory material.

Pope Francis: Youth should imitate the Blessed Virgin Mary
Pope Francis has told the annual Catholic youth festival in the Balkans town of Medjugorje that they should imitate the Virgin Mary in abandoning themselves to the will of God. The week-long festival in Bosnia-Herzegovina runs until August the 6th. Medjugorje has been a place of pilgrimage since 1981 when six local children claimed to witness apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In 2019, Pope Francis approved pilgrimages to Medjugorje, although the Vatican has not yet ruled on the authenticity of the claimed Marian apparitions. In his letter to the Youth Festival, Pope Francis makes no mention of the alleged apparitions. Instead, the Holy Father urges the young people to take time to be with the Lord in prayer in order to discover the true adventure of life.

Great to hear about Radio Veritas in Pakistan & Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI recovering though sad to hear about the Bible being thought of as 'inflammatory'. How powerful & mighty the Lord is when this persecution is happening; praise be unto Him - Amen!!!
