I'm from Kenya and I love your videos.
Here's an idea you might like...It's actually something we do here when building a house progressively like you are doing...We "complete" two rooms first and move in. That means we put a roof, Windows and doors to at least one big room or two small rooms first. It covers us from the sun, wind and rain.

I know you've probably thought of it already but I just wanted to add that building an underground water tank to collect harvested rain water from the roof of your house when it rains might be a better way to save money on water (esp for every other thing apart from drinking) compared to using sachet water all the time.
