Why do CEOs make so much more than their workers? And why has it increased from  20x more only 58 years ago to more than 350x today?

imagine being fired as a CEO but then given a $29m bonus on your way out during a union negotiation where your workforce hasn't gotten a raise in 16 years

That's why CEOs became so detached to the workers plight.

That's what happens when corporations can legally bribe the government.

CEO's and executives LITERALLY get bonuses for performing well financially. During quarterly reports you will hear them brag about keeping "cost of labor" down. They get paid more because they find out ways to pay YOU less. The rich are not your friends. Your boss is not your friend. Minimum wage needs a drastic raise, and salaries and bonuses for executives need to be cut DRASTICALLY.

Replace the word inflation with corporate greed, because that's exactly what it is.

And this is why labor organization is critically important.

Just imagine what a great country this would be if we all treated each other with compassion and respect.

It blows my mind that poor and working class people are manipulated into defending billionaires

No CEO deserves 350 times the pay of their average worker.

That’s why I say that big business should foot the bill for education in this country and not the taxpayer. Imagine if your tax dollar only went for security and waste removal!

So a CEO gets 350 years of regular pay every year. If a working lifetime is 40 years they get 9 LIFETIMES of pay... EACH YEAR!

Legitimately one month of CEO pay would change the course of someone’s life like… that’s so absurd

Love that the first dip on the graph is the 2008 recession just for it to go back up

Consider this: It's higher now also because the average worker is payed far less than they should be as well.

One of my managers yesterday actually tried to defend the fact that my company's (Jabil) CEO makes $8000/hr by saying that the work the CEO does is "very stressful" and actually justifies the pay.

So, he works 500x harder than us average workers? I don't think so

Ask the question if a particular CEO went away tomorrow what would change the company. If the answer is nothing they shouldn't be getting paid these outrageous sums

When I was a CEO of a publicly traded company I held my compensation to 30x the lowest paid person (janitor). I proposed this to the office of the president (POTUS) leaving no cap on the CEO compensation. The board could pay the CEO as much as they need/want to BUT the ratio of him not exceeding 30 times the lowest paid employee would force the rest of the employees to get the substantial mind boggling increases as well. The republicans killed the idea.
