This is what dry cleaning is. It’s a big machine that uses a liquid that isn’t water, dry cleaning solution, to clean your clothing. This machine is a washer-dryer combo because dry cleaning machines are closed loop, meaning that nothing can leave the machine.

Wet cleaning, or water based cleaning machines, are not combo machines. They are just like our at home washer and dryer machines that require a ‘transfer’.

So how do you decided which one to use when the clothing are dropped off. If you use water machines also then why can't we just wash items labeled dry clean only at home?

Why are the new 2023 front load washers using less water? I have this with mine and, I am not happy with the water level for my large loads. Not enough to clean and, rinse my laundry.
Not enough water to cover a blanket.

I wonder what wet cleaning machines are for – is it an extra step for certain garment cases, but otherwise second string to the dry cleaning combos?

I guess I'm thinking of it like fries at a Chinese restaurant – yeah, it doesn't fall under the title/category as we know it, but it's not the main event anyway, so be grateful and don't worry about it lol

The washing machine in my Chinese flat also does dry cleaning. You just use a chemical instead of a detergents.
