That would actually make sense if they made the same thing like with the 3ds cartridges, just add a block so they are only compatible with the Switch two but the old ones can still fit on them

Fun fact: Ryan Renolds not only voiced pikachu but detective pikachu’s face was also modelled after him!! (I thought this was common knowledge but apparently a lot of people don’t know lol)

This is most likely them going the 3DS route, and adding an extra bit to the edge of the cart to prevent it from going in the Switch 1. Simple, cheap, effective.

I mean all things said I think form factor wise they'll essentially be identical except a certain mold fastening design that allows the 2 to take both Switch 1 and '2' carts but not vice versa.

Maybe they'll do them the same way they did 3DS cartridges. Same as the previous system, but add a notch to keep it from being put in the older system. Well, that or maybe keep them the same size but make it so if you try to use it on a Switch, a message will pop up with a QR code to take you to the page to buy the Switch 2, and the message will probably say something like "This is (Insert Console Name) Software and cannot be used on Nintendo Switch. Scan this QR Code to purchase (Insert Console Name)."
