Thanks for the long term review. I bought a Grizl last summer and I am very happy with it. Not the “best” when used as a “road bike” but it is sold as an adventure bike and it does prove to be a trusty companion for adventure.

I have had a Grizl 6 Al for 4 months and 2500km on it. Changed the handlebars to something with more flair but most of the parts are still stock. The tires (Schwalbe G-One Bite) were also changed to something more fitting for a usage on roads, G-One R in the front and a Gravelking SS in the back.

The next upgrade is probably gonna be the saddle. Basically, there's a noticeable edge at the nose where the rubber meets the plastic, even through the pants. It'll probably be worse in the summer. After that, I definitely want to get some lighter wheels. Pretty much set on the DT Swiss GR1600 but I'm still debating on which sizes to get. 27, 5 inch would result in the same geometry but 28 inch wheels do have more tire choice.

Got to say I agree with the summary. I bought a high spec allroad bike last year thinking I'd ride around on 28s and it would be nice to have the option for 35s. After a year I've now bought an Aspero with mechanical GRX. Position can be just as aggressive, barely notice the change in groupset and I now ride around on 32s and swap to 45s at the weekend for some trails. Allroad bike is on the trainer...

Have got a Grizl CF SLX 8 slammed with -17deg 100cm stem and 38cm carbon handlebars, same tyres as you. Was amazing value when I got it. grx di2 2-by with 11-40 cassette on the back for sustained steep yorks/welsh climbs. Might put some road tyres on it for the Fred Whitton. Agree - wouldn't buy the new grail either for the UK off-road riding given tyre clearance and don't need the longer front-centre. Peatys carbon gripper paste on the seat clamp and no issues.

Had mine since 2021 and its built like a tank (its the AL model so heavier than yours), looking for something a bit faster but definately will be keeping it. As far as a go almost anywhere do anything and carry a lot bike, its great. I did have Zipp 303S on it with teravail cannonball 35mm tyres on. Great versatility and of course that colour automatically adds 10w.

I am shocked as I been thru 3 bb for my road bike wait 4 now.. Due to something from the cranks.

Nice review, where did you get the decals from and what size are they?

It is just a rivnut that needs to be replaced— most bike shops can do it- I have done it on my own bike

What tyres are on it? They look pretty big! Quick search shows thunderburts come in 2.1" (54mm ish?) They fit ok obviously? I'm about to pull the pin on a Grizl 6 AL as my first drop bar/ proper gravel bike (I have a frankenstein Cube 26" HT with 650b47 tyres/ 700C38) but pretty set on a Canyon! Was thinking of holding out for a CUES 1x11 or GRX 1x12 version but no guarantee there even will be one!

How do you find the flexy seatpost versus a traditional stiff one in terms of putting in a dig? Do you feel the seat dampens your power at all?

Hey Dan I’m about to buy a grizl but still uncertain on sizing, Canyon sizing puts me on a M I’m 185cm 88cm inner leg? How do you find the sizing?
