Finally, humanity has advanced to the point where we can have entire channels devoted to circuit-board repairs.

Just found this channel. Love listening to his voice and what he is doing. I used to be an electronics repair man but shops like this is almost gone here. Its easier and cheaper to just buy new things. Kinda sad.

Sorin you are an perseveringly patient man!

I fixed a Vizio 1080p LCD TV for $8 using information I learned from watching your videos. Thank you for what you do!

Having schematics is a luxury that not everyone can afford. But as you said - no matter what, we must carry on. So carry on, my friend! God bless you!

A two hour video but very informative, a true step by step troubleshooting!!!

Love happy ends like this even when its 5 Years ago!!! I watched the whole thing and i dont get bored for one second. Impressive! Ive burnt a lot of things but the happy ends are the best. Keep going and cheers from Germany

Hi there, I cannot stop myself to watch your, excellent videos, , support from Australia..keep it up buddy 👍

Thanks for those videos. I have a broken DJI Mavic Air drone that I'm going to attempt fixing. I've already learned a lot from your videos!

That's not dodgy, that's sheer brilliance

Sorry to tell you this but I feel you over heat components when you solder. A little less heat time will do wonders. You are an excellent electronics repair man. God bless you.

Sorin, you cannot replace a Schottky with any diode. Schottky diodes are fast in switching on and off. If you replace it with a slower diode it will lose half or more of the pulse by the time it turns on and after the voltage is smoothened with the caps you get lower voltage because the slower diode lost a chunk of the pulse.

This was a great journey! There was some same kind of issues, when i fixed Salora videos. There was a dirty loading encoder switch, which caused malfunction. Before that i make some miss thinkings. I measured it's power supply lines (18, 16, 12, 5 and -21 volts) with diode test and -21V line seemed to be dead short, but it was okay. The line powered videos display and obviously it was okay to have about 8 ohms in that line. When the machine was powered i measured all the voltages including -21V. In some point I thought, that one of the main boards resistor was open, but actually it was a cap, which looked just like a regular resistor.

Nice diagnose, and perfect solution :) thanx for another great video

I think you are the master of motherboard repair

One important lesson I learned from this video is that replacing a wrong diode can take down a switching IC.

"SCOTCHY diode....or whatever" >_> LOL ! :))) I laughed so hard at that ! Great stuff ! :D

Point of load (buck) regulators are recognized by their inductors (one end of which is supposed to be the output. The controllers data sheets will help dramatically

The fly-wheeling diode is at the switching node, the other side of the coil is the output

Good work. My suggestion: go to Aliexpress and get yourself a nice set of diodes, capacitors, resistors like i have. It's dead chip and it's better then salvaging from dead boards.
