The sad thing is, you have to explain all of this to people who should be learning this in school, by experience or from their parents. Instead we get dei, esg, gender-bending, hate America, war.on.whites, etc.

While I agree with your teaching here in principle, reality sets in. All governments are full of people who have no idea how business or economics work. So when they interject themselves it usually causes a negative response. The U.S. government creates policies which benefit the companies which have the most lobbying money in the game. The government also allows monopolies which benefit the same. While I can give examples like the Rockefellers (Standard oil) or AT&T or the banks which are part of the Federal Reserve system, none of the companies like these that cause problems for workers are ever harshly dealt with. These companies are also bailed out to save them as opposed to us who are not. As long as government is involved in the economy, there will never be a real free market. The government needs to stick to appropriate regulations to protect workers and the environment and then get out of the way.

Free market?? What about monopolies? Look at insurance companies and soon to be banks When there are only a few players they control the market. Like OPEC. Even politics. Only 2 choices
