Hello. I'm hosting a Jamuary Challenge over on Instagram. The theme of challenge number 1/4 is to make an uplifting musical performance.
Post your performance on Instagram with the Hashtag #cuckoosjamuarychallengeUplifting between now Friday 7th of January 2022, and Monday 10th of January 2022, 10am CET. I'll then go through the Hashtag and announce the winner later in the day.

For the first challenge Teenage Engineering will generously send the winner a pack of their M-1 headset, their Splash Modular bag and a Teenage Engineering keychain.

Challenge 2/4 next Friday. Stay tuned.

Sorry up front everyone that this is an Instagram only thing. It's a lot of work for me to handle this, so I want to streamline the process for me. Also this way everyone will have their work presented in the same format, which also feels fair. Let's revisit with a future competition here on YouTube with another sponsor in the future! In the meanwhile, I hope to see you join in! /Cuckoo

Don't know if I'll have time to submit to this first one, but I'm really happy to see that the "entry rules" are uplifting, love you Cuckoo!

Great idea! I don't have Instagram so I won't be entering, but I am glad you are doing this.

Do you participate too ? Your songs are really often joyful and fun but I'd like to see an uplifting song of Cuckoo sama. 🙇‍♂

I'm not on Insta, however I just had to say how inspiring it is, to find someone out there, focussing on the positive effects music can have, and the fact that we perhaps all need a bit of loving healing these salute a cold, white location in a remote area of Canadian wilderness

What's the best way to learn what, musically, usually sounds 'uplifting'? Or is it just something you have to experiment with? I'm quite new to music theory and would love to structure my learning around creating certain moods.

Sounds awesome dude I'll totally support you on these jams.. does the music have to be made by teenage engineering equipment??

Thanks 🙂🌟👍

nice, I just recorded mine with only a PO-33. Some old school piano rave stuff.

Well, I'll try signing up for Instagram, strapping my phone to a mic stand, and syncing my audio to the video. Never done any of that, so I'm not sure whether I'll be able to manage in time for this challenge. At the very least I should be able to work out the little problems in time for the next one. And if something worthwhile gets recorded, I'll post it.

Ok let's do this!
Are there any limitations on the gear we have to use?

I don't think I'm talented enough to participate in this, but I have something to say about this challenge. I wish I could write something uplifting. In lieu of my missing talents, I would like to submit "The Woman Who Is Also A Mongoose" by The Dead Milkmen. I get what you're doing. We've all been through a terrible few years. And we need some positivity. But I need to vent. I think we all need to vent. Hopefully in a positive way. Maybe your second challenge could incorporate some of the complicated feelings we probably all share. I don't think it's enough to be uplifting right now. It might be just as important to look into the eyes of our collective pain. I don't know how to do that well, but maybe somebody does. And maybe they could make something constructive out of that.

Instagram is the most profitable platform for all the marketing strategists out there. They seem to see it the same way at TE. A big bunch of advertising. That doesn't feel very uplifting. Too bad.
