Q1) yes this statement is correct that human activities had a major part of contribution towards land degradation.
Land degradation is the destruction of land due to various activities.
The three ways in which the land degradation occurred due to human activities are as follows:-

1.Deforestation
-Due to cutting of forest the fertile layer of soil (humus) have been washed away either by rain and this also caused flood as there are no roots to absorb the rain water.

2.Overgrazing
-The land is being overgrazed by farmers and other people for their cattle and livestock.

3.Over Mining
-The places where there are so many resources available have become a target for industrialist, for their own greed and benefit they overmine the place resulting in land degradation.

4.Industrialization
-Where there are resources available the industrialist set up their factories and industries using up the raw materials available and disposing harmful substances directly in the soil.

5.Urbanization
-There have been a major rise in the population as the birth rate is increasing and the decreasing level of death rate due to best healthcare facilities, therefore there isn't much place to live so the forests are being emptied out.

Q4) it is correct to say that sustainable development is a major and crucial step for the development of a country.
-Sustainable development means the resources are being used currently without disturbing the need of future generations to come.
-Sustainable development is necessary to avoid the depletion of resources unnecessarily so that it can be used for more useful purposes later on.
-It help the future generation to utilize the resources more efficiently as there would be much more technology, so they would be able to make the country far more developed.
-Sustainable development helps the resources that are non renewable or which don't get renewed easily by giving more time for it's replenishment

Q5) Truly said by Mahatma Gandhi "There is enough for everybody's need and not for anybody's greed"
-He meant that everything is enough as for the need of people but, greed is never ending. The more we have the more we have the urge to have more than what we do whether it is needed or not.
We don't understand the difference between need and want, that is the major reason why we feel that no matter how much we have we still find it to be not enough .

ANS- Consequences of environmental degradation do not respect national or state boundaries, this issue is no longer a regional or national issue and our future is linked together. Sustainability of development is essential for all mankind and it is our common responsibility to save the environment. These days it is a matter of discussion among different countries of the world. Global warming, acid rain, etc., are not to be controlled by one nation. It is a global matter of thinking and finding the solutions.

Yes I agree with this statement.
1- states like Rajasthan have enough solar and wind energy but lack in water resources.
2- states like Arunachal Pradesh have unlimited water resources but lack in developed infrastructure.
3- states like Madhya Pradesh Maharashtra have unlimited minerals. 59:03
