Inside Armenia’s BIGGEST SLUM! Yerevan LOCAL Life?!

KOND = Long Hill in Armenian but it is also the home of the oldest quarter in Yerevan! Tiny narrow streets, cobbled streets and derelict crumbling buildings makes up this unusual area of a huge bustling city! It's sad to see people living like this separated from the city however there are some very interesting buildings and landmarks that are still standing today!

There is no bad nation. we must now think of peace. the world is in ruins. People do not choose the country where they live. I hope we will live as good neighbors as before. peace to the whole world and the Caucasus

It's an eye opener to see the other side of life. What makes it special is meeting the locals who bring there own charm and beauty. Keep meeting locals, don't worry about language. Translations are available on YouTube and Google. Molly and Matt, you bring so much to your vlogs, history, food and culture. Thank you for all that you do. Sending you lots of love💕💕 Harriet and Jim, Richmond, Va.

If you are still in Yerevan, there is a 2800 year old fortress called Erebuni/Urartu. It is15 minutes from city square.

All of Yerevan was like this less than a 100 years ago. Infact where Northern Avenue is currently used to be similar slums only 15 years ago. I grew up in one of the high rises near Kond and used to walk through there regularly to the church and the library on the other side of it. People who lived there were always lovely and kind.

I really appreciate you going to see the non tourist areas in your travels so that your followers see the true people of the country. It breaks my heart to see people living in slums but you learn from them how to survive on little. 🙏

Awesome vlog as per usual. Kond is going to be rebuild into a proper old town, however one of the issues the city government have been facing is that the people who are still living there dont want to move out and/or demand ridiculous amount of money for their properties from investors so it has been a bit of a slow process. Some of these locals dont want to move out at all so its also an issue since all these properties are private property so city authorities cant just force them out. The mosque is actually Iranian and not Turkish. The reconstruction plans have are ready so i think in the near future the entire area would be transformed. Hope this helps

Dear friends, what a lovely video, some background info for you. Chief architect of Yerevan Genius Alexander Tamanyan made this tunnels not only for pedestrian walk, but to supply the city with oxygen coming from a gorge.
