Could not Israel try to negotiate a peace treaty [through an intermediatry] and normalise relations with the legitimate, largely Christian Lebanese government in Beirut.. Hezbollah are almost as hostile towards Lebanese Christians as they are to Israel, sothere is a good chance that a combined Judaeo-Christian effort could defeat Hezbollah. This would benefir both countries.
