"Couldn't act his way out of a paper bag." I was too young to know what sarcasm was when I first saw this and I thought John Candy was being mean to Tom Hanks. I eventually realized as I got older he was just joking but it's funny this has always stuck with me.

I worship this movie because this is the very first mermaid movie i ever saw when i was just 5 years old and i instantly fell in love and because of this amazing movie, that's how i got into mermaids and they became my fav thing ever, and i started mermaiding when i turned 20 and I'm now 24 lol and splashvis still my most fav mermaid movie, it's always in a special place in my heart and i give so much praise for the actors and movie producers! 😍💋💖

3:37, Ron Howard states that Disney was used to seeing their usual G-rated fare at that time and had to decide if they wanted to put the Disney name in a PG-rated movie, since it was unusual at the time the film was made. 36 years later, and the Disney name is now in PG-rated movies, thanks to most of their recent animated features, including sequels, and live-action remakes that have dominated the Hollywood box-office, alongside the PG-13 Marvel & Star Wars films, and also Cruella & Jungle Cruise, as well.
