Space Jam: A New Legacy had one of the hardest falls from grace that a movie can get. So many people were talking about it ever since the trailer, making memes and art of it even before it came out, then it showed and everyone collectively agreed it wasn't needed nor did it live up to the hype. And then basically no one talks about it now except for talking about the worst movies of 2021.

Adum's review of the movie was legitimately fucking awesome.

He's so dead on in how a lot of people who try to white knight for it with "wElL tHe FiRsT mOvIe WaS nOt ThAt GrEaT eItHeR" are incredibly dismissive and seem to ignore the fact that, although that's not entirely incorrect, it still glosses over the fact that the first movie still had lots of things about it that are undeniably good.

People can talk about the first movie being a bunch of commercial opportunities slapped together all they like, commercial tie ins are present in a lot of classic films too, it's what's done with the material and what the end result is that matters. The first movie had charm, had jokes, had great music, had a bit of heart etc. Yes, there was the cynical commercial side of it, but they still made something charming enough to overcome that.
The new movie seems far more soulless and calculated and is executed in a worse way. That's the difference, that's what elevates the original.
