Outlander | Jamie & Claire | Don’t Wanna Lose You • Ver. 2 | Season 1 - 7

The video includes scenes from seasons 1 to 7 of the Starz TV-Show Outlander. As the song title suggests, it's about Jamie & Claire's constant fear of losing each other again. They know life without their loved one and are therefore even more afraid of living in loneliness and darkness again. And life puts many obstacles in their way, be it grudges, illness or war. Perhaps this is the price they pay for ignoring the laws of time and space.
Since I came across a male cover version of the song, I created two videos. This one from Jamie's perspective, the other one from Claire's. Which do you like better?

First of all this song has always gotten to be no matter who is singing it! It’s an amazingly powerful song and I am so grateful to Gloria for introducing it to us!
But I must say listening to it while
watching Jamie and Claire do their thing in Outlander just takes my breath away! They just emote love and sex and empathy and all the emotions that go into a relationship! They are terrific together and I love watching them! What great actors they are!
Saying that, I must thank you for bringing this video and music together! You did a wonderful job bringing these scenes to us! They represent what Outlander is all about and why we love it so much and I thank you and appreciate all your work! 🤍💙🙏🏻

Wow, do I love this pair! They tell both their stories amazingly well. 🙌

Here, frame by frame, starting with the close-up of Jamie's eyes, trying to figure out how to emotionally reach Claire in order to break through their dangerous impasse - his fear that their marriage was at stake - and ending with another tight shot of his eyes - this time desperate to reach her physically - his fear that her life was at stake - their story unfolds in-between, the lyrics underscoring the scenes beautifully.
I'm alway interested in the scenes you choose to use. Sometimes they are straight up parallels, other times they are deeply intuitive but still clear enough even if you don't read between the lines.
(Just richer if you do 😉.)

I don't see Jamie as a particularly fearful person - unless it concerns Claire. Especially after their separation. He realizes losing her again could break him for good.  But both their lives are often on the line given the times, who they are as individuals and as a couple (formidable enough to be challenging), so that fear of losing her is a specter that hangs over his head. There is a verse that says "To whom much is given, much is required." Boy, we really see that here.

Here are some standout moments for me: "No when to face the truth and I know that the moment is here.) Ugh!! That's so painful, seeing him memorize her as she is in the throes of the pleasure only he is able to give her, knowing that he has to let her go in the morning. 💔

"I'll open my heart and show you inside...." Jamie is such a proud man and a new husband. Given the times, most men would not reveal their vulnerabilities to their wives. But here he is doing exactly that, letting her see how much she's hurt him. The power she has over him. And it softens her immediately.

"So open your eyes and see who I am I'm not who you want me to be but who I am" OMG the reconciliation in the Reckoning is the perfect choice. Seeing it from the point of view of the lyrics opens that scene up even more for me. Claire has to see that Jamie IS a man of his times, he is who he is- yet not closed to change. But in the essentials he will always be himself. ( And she actually loves that about him.) Because he is Jamie, he IS only himself, and mixed into his great love for Claire is a rare sacrificing, selfless component. He loves her enough to send her back to safety and the comfort of being in her own times with Frank. 😢He doesn't WANT to lose her - but he must - if that's what she wants.

"Maybe I've finally found the courage to stand my ground" He did find it. There he was, lying all alone by the fire, thinking he would never see her again. He didn't give in to his own feelings but chose her over himself. He found the courage to do what his love demanded of him.

Of course, their true honeymoon at Lallybroch, after her monumental decision to stay with him, is so beautiful. No more deceit, no more hidden agendas on her part. She's fallen completely in love with him. He'll stay with her and she with him forever. ❤‍🔥🥲

"We all make mistakes..." Hello Laoghaire.

"We all lose our way..." I found the scene you chose with Claire going back to church arresting. What a perfect place to try to reorient yourself...ground zero, if you will. Even if she went because of her patient who died, his bringing the memory ofJamie into her world set the stage to find him later. Diana's mind - omg. She's something else.

"But we've stood the test of time and I hope that's the way it will stay" Ooh, that reunion scene! Yes!

"It's all up to you to tell me to go because it won't be me to walk away" I really like that you used that scene where Claire doubts her decision to return. The reality was so different from her dreams, utterly challenging, and here she'd left an established life and fulfilling career in Boston...I don't think in the end she would have ever left him. She'd just had to adjust to the extremities of life in the past so quickly. Plus, she'd felt betrayed by Jamie's lack of honesty and her heart was broken over his marriage to Laoghaire thought she ultimately understood it. But I also liked that you cut back to Jamie's face back in the brothel where we can see the adoration in his eyes. He would never leaver her again. And she knows that's true. Sigh...

After this we see scene after scene of the times when she could have been lost to him. I love the one where he is running up the hill to light the fiery cross. That is so dramatic and powerful. Also, when he covered her with his plaid - I find that symbolic. It harkens back to their very beginning riding together on horseback. But also, covering her with his love and protection, a promise that they would get through this too. "We'll make it through somehow". And they did.

"Don't wanna lose you, don't wanna lose you" The song reaches a crescendo. It sounds like a desperate prayer - a cry for help. We see him kneeling at her bedside, doing exactly that, so terribly afraid he would lose her to illness. In that case, there was nothing he COULD do but pray. And thankfully, his prayers were answered.

You start bringing it to a close by seeing them overcome another threat from Malva. This time, to their marriage. I see through this song that it's not only fear of physical separation that they've fought against, but also, any attack on their bond - their marriage, from Laoghaire to Malva. I've known that, but somehow I see it a little differently. More like a battle to hold on to trust, no matter what things look like. And back to physical separation - then Jamie's determination to find his wife.

btw, I also like the way you interspersed warm, loving scenes throughout, where we can see what is at stake. Because we see that all they fight for at considerable cost, is totally worth it.
It's an astonishing story, is't it? And you've brought a new facet to it with this song.

Nice! Great song and your love of the Outlander story is very evident. Did you upload several videos all at once? Nice job!

Casal dispensavel ba serie.
